If it is real Maine Rd nostalgia you want, drink a pint of flat Greenalls bitter and eat a meat and potato pie that is red hot at the crust and frozen in the middle.
i prefer a stale wagon wheel and a cone of chips.

i found it easier to go under on your belly like a japanese sniper, much less fuss as wellSame guy used to do it every home game..ran at them and jumped over them ... always expected him to smash his head in on top of wall but he made his self smaller by curling up...weird but true
Nothing brings back the memories of the back of the Kippax as much as the smell of stale piss.If it is real Maine Rd nostalgia you want, drink a pint of flat Greenalls bitter and eat a meat and potato pie that is red hot at the crust and frozen in the middle.
When the new Kippax was built the inside bogs were the height of luxury compared to the ones on the external wall, which were still in use.Nothing brings back the memories of the back of the Kippax as much as the smell of stale piss.
The first house I lived in with an indoor toilet was in 1962.When the new Kippax was built the inside bogs were the height of luxury compared to the ones on the external wall, which were still in use.
Must have been like when people started having inside toilets instead of having to use a freezing outhouse.
This looks like it’s an original piece of metalwork but could be from one of many hundreds (possibly thousands) of turnstiles they installed at football/cricket grounds, racecourse, swimming baths, piers, Blackpool pleasure beach/similar, cinemas etc. over the years. It is marked as being produced at Irlam - that suggests it was pre 1904 as later ones were marked Salford - so is from an early turnstile but impossible to say whether it’s one of the Hyde Rd turnstiles. I’d be surprised if someone has taken it from the turnstile as the turnstiles would be worth more complete, but it could easily be from one scrapped by someone.Hi Gary,
Sorry for the bump but I was curious about something I bought online when I read your post. I saw a turnstile piece online over summer and didn't realise some of the turnstiles went missing. I don't honestly know if this is a convincing replica, or whether it has even been scrapped down from one of the stolen turnstiles to make it easier to sell.View attachment 5042
