Turnstiles Broke! Massives Queues Outside The Ground

New wall had a bit to do with it, been huge queues at p all season yet people persist in turning up at the same time
Thats bull shit mate i get to the ground the same time as i have done since we moved here and never missed kick off like i did on saturday missed 11 and a half mins of the match! money grapping cnuts making the matchday shitter and shitter for the everyday fan! why wasn't this all done in the close season?!

I want to know what happened to the bottle bins...used to have them around the concourse selling bottles...don't understand why they still don't do that?

Also that big space behind the SS level 1 which the expansion made...crying out for a bar

I've not read all the posts in this thread but my own experience on Saturday was one of clear problems early on. I got in the ground about 25 minutes before kick-off and even then there were huge queues at some of the turnstiles at the South Stand end. Luckily my entrance - M2 - had no queue whatsoever at that point but M1 had hundreds in, even at that time.

I did a bit of flag waving for 1894 immediately prior to the match and when I took the flag back up to the concourse just after kick-off everyone that had been in the queue outside poured in after the gates were opened. I'm guessing from that that the queues built up hugely at M2 after I got in the ground just as they had prior to that at other turnstiles.

I suppose this is a bit of a 'well it was bound to happen sooner or later' event for a lot of people. I know it shouldn't happen and it's a huge fuck-up by the club. But they do advice people to get in the ground at least 45 mins before kick off.

People did get to the ground 45 minutes before kick off on Saturday but couldn't get into the ground!!!

Heard it all now. Fans having a pint at half time are ruining the spectacle for other fans. Believe it or not your average fan will have quick pint at half time, always has been always will be. We alternate between mates who gets the beers in, so all of us bar the one getting the drinks in will see the whole of the first half.
My point was the service is shocking these days whether that's getting a pie of having a beer. It's never been an issue in the past.
If you say I belong in the pub I think by the same token you belong in a theatre
I go to the ground to watch 90 minutes of football, not stand on the concourse drinking over-priced piss while the football I've paid to watch is happening on the pitch. But if that's your bag then fine.

But you're missing the point entirely. You're moaning about the service yet still do the same thing every week. Instead of moaning, if everybody boycotted the concourse bars at half time they'd soon be panicking and might actually do something to sort it out. And it's not just this season. It might have got a lot worse but I know from having gone to Points of Blue meetings fairly regularly that people have been moaning about the service for a long time.

If you went to the McDonalds by Asda and you suddenly had to wait half an hour for a burger for which they charged you a tenner, would you go back again? Would you fuck. You'd say they were taking the piss and not bother again. Behave like a customer and you'll get treated like a customer. Behave like a bunch of sheep and they'll continue to take the piss.

We go in through M1 and were slightly later going in than usual, due to traffic issues. We went through the turnstile at 2.25pm. Hardly anyone in the queue at that point.

Usually we are in there for just after 2pm.

No they didn't. I got into the ground at around 2pm no problem. One of my friends arrived about half past and again was fine. The lads I stand with said they turned up 10 mins before kick off and didn't get in until about 5/10 minutes into the game.

Nail on the head PB, nothing will ever get done whilst enough people are willing to put up with the overpriced shambles that it is!

Don't know the answer to this, but is it any better at other grounds ? Not so much before kick off when they should be no problem. But keeping everyone happy at half time when thousands have 15 minutes to get from their seat served, have time to finish a pint, possibly go to the toilets and get back to their seat for kick off just sounds impossible to me, definitely not enjoyable Not sure why so many attempt it. If we could take a drink back to the seats I'd get it.

I gave up going years ago...thankfully the 'matchday experience' as defined on these pages, on a variety of matters pertaining to ruining a fkin expensive day out, clearly justify my decision.

I have heard of bar problems from pretty much every supporter of other teams that have large attendances. Even Maine Rd could be a nightmare! Doesn't mean there can't be a solution but it's not a symptom of City's new owners or anything...

yes to get you to spend more fucking money on the overpriced fizzy piss and the celebrity fucking pies! how about before you piss about putting the berlin fucking wall up you do a bit of forward planning and put in more turnstiles to let the masses in then then you can start your building works for the prawn sandwich brigade. oh and i got there at 2:30 the same time ive been getting there since we moved and never had a problem like saturday so don't be giving that shit out

No, I used to be a regular, stopped for a few years now go with my son. I can honestly say overall, especially the football, it’s never been better as a matchday experience. Especially compared to those late Maine Road days. City square is a much better atmosphere than those old back streets.

There have always been issues and problems, always will be,having a forum means we get to hear and discuss more of them and that’s not a bad thing. But it does make people think it’s worse than it is.

There needs to be a meeting between the police, the club , the caterers , the security, the fans and the tit in charge of transport in Manchester.

The half time beer is only half the story. You can't buy a beer before the game now either because half the time you are either stuck in traffic or queuing to get in.

It just pisses me off. I don't go to the European home games anymore because I had to turn back once as I hit gridlock in Manchester and you just can't get to the ground. The crap infrstrure combined with Manchester rush hour means forget it.

The idea that we can expand the ground again with the existing roads and public transport being able to cope is just nonsense. People say leave earlier but I do all the time earlier and earlier and it's a joke.

i would consider it again if I had children of an age...but I don't. City Sq holds no appeal whatsoever, and as for the football, yeah I agree, far better, only I get to watch it live in the pub!.....just really fell out of going to the live matches I guess, too much mither...tickets, parking, metrolink, queuing, piss poor beer, forced cheerleading, half and halfers,....my loss.

Weren't you lucky then, because on P1 and P2 people arrived 45 minutes before kick off and were still queuing 10 to 15 minutes into the game. I know, I was one of them!!

I got to my gate no Q thankfully 35 mins before kick off and there was a huge waiting time at that stage. Not sure who is to blame but It wasn't those folk with about 250 in front of them nearly 45 mins before kick off. Somebody must have fucked up.

No matter what difficulties you experienced on matchdays years ago I will just say this as City fan who loves good football and had to watch crap for so many years.

I assume the reason most of us go to a football match is to watch and support our favourite team play FOOTBALL.....and your team right now is playing the BEST football it has ever played and, most probably, it will only get better in the coming years.

Fair enough, might have been different in other areas of the ground. Apparently I think there was a power outage that caused it, the club are having a de-briefing today to figure out what went wrong.
