TV Series

Trying to finish off a few older series, that I didn't get round to doing, as well as some newer stuff.

American Horror Story - 8/10 so far, 4 episodes in, weird, not quite sure what's going on but enjoying it.

Manifest - 7/10, up to date, started off interesting, starting to wane a little bit but hope it picks up.

About to watch the pilot of The Passage.

True Detective season 3 looks like it is going to be good.

What do you think so far? Finished the first episodes, not bad - certainly better than the 2nd season. Still, I find it will inevitably be compared to the first season which will maintain a bar virtually impossible to match much less surpass

Ali is great and odd to see Dorff back on screen (Where did he go?). Their dynamic is hard to get a feel for yet considering how much energy there was between Harrelson & McCaunaghy. Supporting cast, apart from Ali's wife, are decidedly weaker as well. Tone looks to be a return to Season 1 - a lot of similarly taken shots & photography but less gripping IMHO

I'll continue to tune in but it feels a bit 6/10 atm, for me

Very slow that first episode,it didn't grab or hit the notes IMO.

I don't think it will ever match S1.

S1 was perfect. The cast, the writing, the acting, the premise, the location. Everything worked, a perfect storm. And for me, still a massively underrated piece of TV, very very few put it up there with GoT or BB etc, because it was just 8 episodes. Honestly though, I reckon I've watch the first season at least 6 times fully, and it never disappoints. That's also when you bear in mind that the 'case' was completely secondary to what the show was about - the relationship between Rust and Marty, how it evolved, broke down etc.

Simply perfect.

I am more of a binger really bud so i will wait until the season is complete. A few people have said what you have with it being better than season 2. They have top level actors for it so i hope they can meet the same chemistry you note the original pair had. I guess it is down to the writing and screen play to give them good tools to work with, would you say they have that this season?

It is great to see Steven Dorff back indeed. Hollywood can be a fickle mistress. It seems he was just a victim of the machine that is hollywood. I mean i don't recall him doing anything that would see him black listed. That said a lot goes on we never hear about but he does seem to be one of the unfortunate ones who were just discarded seemingly for no reason. so as you say, it is nice to see him back indeed.
