TV Series

You know, I forgot it was supposed to be set before the first film. I think the writers forgot, too!
Wait...I haven't seen this new series yet, but you say it's set 2 years before Alien, and earth is supposedly rampant with xenomorphs?
How does that work, as when Ripley comes out of hyper sleep at the start of Aliens (57 years after Alien) there had still been no documented sight of any xenomorphs anywhere?

I agree with you. The only way this works is if in the second (or third series if any of that happens) all Xenomorph life forms are wiped out and I don't see how that happens (however it is set on an island and we don't know the aquatic value to any of them), so I get the feeling they forgot to link it all together with the way it's written.

BUT, I think you should watch it anyway!!

Oh, I no doubt will at some point as I'm a big fan of the films. Just seems like a major fuck up timeline wise

I know am late in getting to watch DEXTER 19 years behind LOL.
This dexter guy is strange to say the least. I will be having nightmares tonight.

Recently joined the forum and haven't looked through the entire thread but my top 3 series to binge are..

2. Slow Horses
3. 1883/1923.
Started Gomorrah and did a couple of seasons - I think. Had a break for a bit and now have no idea where I was up to so I'd have to start again.

Re Alien Earth, the series creator introduced the 4 other species as if it just had the xenos it would be a 2 hour film, rather than an 8 hour series. In other words the new species broaden out the world of the show rather than just being monster of the week fare.

I'll just completely contradict myself now by saying the most successful aspects of the show have been to do with the crash of the Maginot, and how this recreated the first movie. So does that mean I just want a rehash of alien/aliens? No, cos I think the new species have been really positive, from those disgusting blood ticks, metal sucking alien flies that can wreck synths, eyeball monster (MVP imho), moving plant pod as well as the xenos.

I think placing this series just 2 years before the original film makes things needlesslly complicated. In the films we've heard of synths, but certainly not of hybrids, equally no mentions of Prodigy Corporation or Boy. Therefore at the eventual end of the series does it just reset to what we know?

Gotta ask though, how can Weyland collect 5 different species using a specialist science crew possibly up to 65 years before the Nostromo gets directed to land on LV426? They make home (nearly) and get undone by sabotage and stupidity.

If FTL drives are due to be invented any day now in the series, What's to stop the company sending a state of the art ship and crew to round up some more critters? So many questions!
