TV Series

Started Tehran on Apple TV, have to use subtitles as it’s mostly in Arabic. It’s good so far and there’s 3 seasons so something that’s not been binned after the first one.

Not everyone will enjoy this as its short of action but Asura on Netflix is well worth a watch. Japanese made, beautifully shot and the acting is fantastic. Set in 1971 Tokyo it is the story of four sisters. At times funny and at others quite poignant its well worth a watch. 7 episodes.

Part two of 'A Knight of the seven kingdoms' was as good as episode 1 if not better. The show is very different to GOT albeit it inhabits the same world with the royal families bearing the same names. Its smaller in scale, better written, lovely casting and often laugh out loud funny. I particularly like Daniel Ings as Lyonel Baratheon who steals every scene he is in. Its become a TV highlight of the week. The opening scene redefines the image of a 'lance' as well. Bloody nora.

Band of Brothers....any good ?
It's one of the best series I've seen. What makes it work so well is that it doesn't try to be a glossy Hollywood action flick. It feels incredibly grounded. You’ll probably find the first episode a bit of a slow burn because it’s all about the training camp, but once they jump into Normandy in episode two, it doesn't let up.

I've watched this the whole way through (weekly release of Season 3 at the moment).

As they're highly trained Mossad agents who seem to have been through everything in detail, some of the clangers they make to ensure there's suspense and drama in the episodes feel a little bit silly. But it doesn't take away from it too much overall and the fact I'm still watching tells you I think it's good.

Just to clarify though, they're speaking Persian (Iranians) or Hebrew (Israeli's) not Arabic!

Excellent, centering on the events surrounding the mountain meadows massacre.
Enjoyed it.
Yep was good, the other half found it a bit too gruesome however, the burned village / capture scene in particular.

The problem is thee are so many series nowadays, it's hard to judge any from just the trailer or cast list. How many western types have followed since Yellowstone? I think before that Deadwood was probably the only western series made in decades. Tell a lie, there was warrior, which was excellent.

We'd scrolled past this one probably a dozen times before just agreeing to try it, glad we did. Really felt like they captured the period in history, hope, mud, blood and survival.

It’s all Greek to me ;)
