TV Series

They've filmed this before the final book is released so, either they've had some input from the writers on how to finish it, or we're going to get some cobbled ending like they did with GOT.

I'm only up to book 6 at the moment and it's shocking how different the tv show is. I'm actually liking the books more but that's usually the case
I'm halfway through the third book.

I believe that season 6 involves a big jump to the later books and is only 6 episodes in total.

The books are fucking brilliant.

I found it interesting watching the content so beloved, by some on here. I watched the first series of 'Succession', I suffered through the second series and put myself through the angst of the third with 'time invested' reasons, hoping it gets better. The constant bickering in the family and the filled out empty discussions on whatever subject matter adds nothing to anything, so much so, I can't tell if a lot of it is ad libbed!

I understand the dynamics, but it's written so poorly that myself, as a viewer, don't really give a shit about rich people problems in this format. I got to the same conclusion with 'Billions', but much quicker this time, thanks to that show.

In comparison, I've been involved with 'The Morning Show/ Wars' and after a patchy first series, the second has been utterly brilliant! Yes, it has the same power grabbing rich people problems, but the avenues of exploration are so much more diverse and current.

Apart from Aniston being, well... Aniston, the rest of the cast is solid enough enough without anyone being amazing and so the writing is the thing that takes a bow.

Just had a quick Google of the [new] showrunner, so hats off to Kerry Ehrin, who had the show rewritten and, as a result, seems much more like an Aaron Sorkin offering!

Don't think I've ever written a review 'so far', as long, so I'm suitably impressed!
I like Jennifer Aniston. I think she's a great actress and it was OK that she was annoying because not every single person in the show was annoying. Unlike Successon as you say which was awful.

Pretty decent that with subject matter often avoided by other comedies.
The Outlaws on BBC is also decent from the first couple of episodes
Quite enjoying The Outlaws, I think the casting is pretty good and the characters have all already wormed their ways into the sympathetic (or should it be empathetic, maybe just pathetic) side of my brain. All heart-warming nonsense of course but good fun all the same.

You are the first person I've encountered that doesn't enjoy Succession. I can understand some might find the characters unsavory, but it is certainly not 'poorly written.'

I used to live in Bristol so a lot of the locations are nostalgically familiar to me. And the sight of Christopher Walken doing his thing in that city is a proper headfuck

Can I ask you, then, what in the show is revelatory in any fashion?

What do we know about the company and who it deals with and what the dynamics of those relationships are? What's the impact of having the president's ear and how does that shape anything we see on screen?

This whole family structure plays out like a modernised Shakespearean tale of crossing and double crossed, nay, triple and quadruple crossing that is written badly and it becomes tiresome and I just don't give a shit in the end. It's not just that, it's the petty squabbling of kids of whom would never lead a real billion dollar company.

I have really give it enough time and besides the first series, the rest has faded into nonsense, in my opinion.

I'd love to know what I'm missing if you can show me?
