TV Series

Bold call, and I applaud your cheeky audacity, but better call Saul wouldn't have been made if it wasn't for breaking bad.
And neither of them come close to game of thrones.
If I think of all the TV series I've watched I have to pick GoT as my favourite,
I mean most episodes were like movies. I like the drug cartel series like Ozark, BB and Saul etc but they get a bit slow and dull sometimes, I dont think we'll ever see the like of GoT ever again.

My other favourite is the 1979 Tinker tailor Soldier Spy with Alec Guiness, Ian Richardson, Hywell Bennett and a wonderful British cast.

I feel you're spot on there bill. Game of thrones was epic telly. Nothing else has engaged me like it, and believe me, I've watched a lot of shite over the years to know good from bad.
It's the best, bar none.
Unfortunately, you are correct, we won't see the likes of it again.

Just watching Waldorf salad episode of Fawlty Towers on Gold. Hadn't realised the American was played by Bruce Boa, who was General Riekan in Empire Strikes Back. Minutae, eh?

Fawlty Towers is brilliant especially as I hadn't watched it in ages, dialogue be and physical comedy in perfect harmony!
Yeah I knew that. This was in series 2, 1979, so he probably filmed it whilst he was over here filming Empire.

Fantastic series and so much comedy gold over 12 episodes - endlessly rewatchable.

The prequel begins this year,so its very feasible you will see exactly the same again.

Hopefully.

New or recent series don't tend to live long in the memory for me. Having said that, the 1st series of GoT was epic and I think helped in large part by the performances of Sean Bean and Mark Addy. Other great performances included Pedro Pascal, Kate Dickie, Iain Glen and Diana Rigg.

You're also spot on about Tinker Tailor, Alex Guinness is immense in a cast stuffed with character actors. Smiley's People is a decent if imperfect conclusion. Also love the film version of Tinker Tailor with Gary Oldman, brilliant ensemble cast and attention to detail.

While the epic scenes and cinematography are no where near the same level....for those missing their fix of GOT....give The Last Kingdom or Vikings a go.

Watching a few things at the moment.

Fargo season 3 - Finally catching up after all this time. Watched the first two seasons as they aired and absolutely loved both of them, but personal circumstances in 2017 meant I never got around to this and then just never had the inclination to watch it. Well, more fool me. Not as good as the first two seasons but it's much darker and bleaker, more sinister. It's gotten a bit experimental with its format as well. The story isn't quite as gripping, the characters aren't all quite as unforgettable, but about midway through the season there's a big turn that gives it a new lease of life and hopefully it'll carry it through to the end.

Bridgerton season 1 - Watched this just so I could understand what the noise was all about. Don't think it's for me, though. Strikes me as an overstuffed Regency costume drama and not much more, to be honest. There's far too much going on and I'm only invested in about half of it. Far too many characters who are just occupying space, I've lost track of who loves who and for what reason. Also, the way people talked about how "steamy" this show apparently was, they were an inch away from saying it's like softcore porn. I've no idea why. Save for a couple of scenes, the love and romance has all been a bit prim and proper. It's a watchable show and I'll finish season 1 but won't go further.

The Office season 3 - Really good. Finally getting around to it after all this time. First few episodes were properly average but in season 2 it finds its own identity and goes off from there. And they've come up with a brilliant idea to shove half a new cast into the show *just* at the point where the dynamics among the original Dunder Mifflin crew were getting a bit repetitive. Can see why it's been so popular over the years and why it's remained so highly thought of even long after its run ended. Favourite of the bunch is probably Dwight.
