TV Series

Anyone else having nightmares after watching stranger things series 4?

Genuinely surprised at how graphic 'Stranger Things' can be!

Modern horror is terrible, but because this show features young actors, the horror factor sneaks up on you!

Very imaginative (especially last series making of the monster getting 30 ft tall) and cleverly done.

I’m watching We Own This City.

The Wire is, in my opinion the greatest work of television ever and among the greatest works of fiction ever. Just pure 10/10 stuff.

For me TV goes:

The Wire
The Sopranos / The West Wing

Everything Else.

This is right up there though. The realism made even more real by the fact it’s a true story.

I can see why some people would find the short scenes and timeline jumps irritating but once you getting into its unique flow you get the hang of it.

Sublime television. Brilliant to see so much of the Wire cast back together. And the jazz theme music is fantastic.

Have you seen "Show me a hero"? Also excellent and based on a true story.

Has anyone else seen any episodes of 'The Offer? Drama about the making of the The Godfather film?

Its not on in the UK yet, but by the power of the Internet I've managed to watch the first few. Have to say its really well done. A must watch if you're a fan of the film and interested in what behind the scenes Hollywood was like back then.
I've watched the first two. It's very good, although given the source material, I've no doubt it could have been more, but they've clearly (and understandably given audience attention spans) chosen to cover a significant period of time into the first hour and a half rather than flesh out things like Puzo's family life and more insight into Al Ruddy's character. No doubt at all tho that I'll want to finish it.

Also here to report the return of alternative history Sci-Fi show For All Mankind. From Ronald D Moore, genius behind the Battlestar Galactica revival, Outlander creator, and the force behind Star Trek: The Next Generation's greatest years.

I effing love this show. A lot of people turned their noses up very early on, wrote it off as SJW stuff without knowing, Moore's vision always transcends the cliches. Boy were they wrong. He fucked with history so America's space program could continue at the pace of the Apollo Moon landings right through to the present day. It's very into macho thrills. Also geeky thrills.

Some people still don't get it, some are undoubtedly a bit jealous or used to being pandered to. Yes, women are involved. Non-white, too. How fucked is it if you can't get passed that. Spoonfed into a cocoon.

What I'm watching is like The West Wing meets peak Star Trek TNG. A sequel to The Right Stuff. Rewarding, believable, and intelligent, but warm. With wholly realistic rocket science and all the rockets and shuttles NASA never had the budget to build. Awesome.

Yeah, that's definitely fair. There isn't much build up to Ruddy's character and Purzo gets through the book pretty quickly, but as you say they've obviously focused on a specific period of time. It's very well done though, I'll definitely be working through a few more episodes this weekend.
