TV Series

Anyone watched Safe on Netflix yet? I like Michael C. Hall but watched the trailer and his English accent is putting me off it.

I think that's quite harsh!!

I agree it slips quite a lot, but there are moments he nails a dialect (not sure which one, like!) only to slip into a 'plummy, but safe' tone.

The man's a deep New Yorker and he tried! To be fair, he even struggles with a Southern drawl, so this was impressive!

Way better than any of Johnny Depp's atrocious Dick Van Dyke mockney attempts and Sigourney Weaver's effort in "A Monster Calls" who played it safe, safe, safe!!

I was only going off the trailer. Didn't know anything about the series but I assumed it would be American.

After reading Dublinblue's comment, I don't think I'll bother.

The expanse
Designated survivor
Lucifer
All cancelled

Some of the cancellations have been baffling this year. Just look at the reaction Brooklyn Nine Nine got when it got canned and that got picked up by NBC a day later. I imagine the Expanse will get picked up by another network as well. Just baffling decisions by the networks.

Hope the expanse gets picked up it’s one of the best sifi I’ve seen the rest not that bothered.

Watched a new Netflix mini serious last night, 'Safe'. Michael C. Hall (formerly played 'Dexter') is the star and has an english accent. Anyway, it's filmed round Cheshire and some bits in Manchester. Second programme in, the home of the Champions can be seen in the background!

I started watching that last night but there is only the 1st two episodes on Netflix Canada for some reason.

Not sure if it's any good or not yet but started noticing places around town, Altrincham and Hale, so will probably stick with it. I'm a bit sad!

I'm in the middle of season two of Money Heist (La Casa del Papei) which is on Netflix.

Its originally Spanish but has been dubbed in English, but it feels very American rather than being arty-farty. The story line and pacing is excellent and is the best thing I've watched in a while. The leading actress - Tokyo, is a stunner which helps.

Started to watch Cumberbatch's Patrick Melrose but couldn't sit through it after 15-20 minutes - addicts are not really a compelling watch for me

Brilliant tv but I watched it with the subs and no dubbing reckon it would spoil it a bit for me .

Similarly I don't think I could watch it without now. I've got used to their voices matching their faces and it would be weird if that changes.

Its generally not that noticeable, except every time Denver laughs. The voice over actor clearly cant fake laugh on demand like a normal human. Might be worth watching the dubbed version for that reason alone.
