TV Series

Not a sleight on you, but I hate it when people make unjustified comparisons. The main protagonists are nothing alike except for New York Boston type accent.

Farrell, himself, says he's only ever seen one episode of 'Sopranos'.

The need for people to label is crazy!
I've not yet seen it, as you read, but I think the similarities are in the rags to riches context, not that the characters are alike. That's how I read it though clearly I may be wrong.

"Scarface", "Goodfellas", "Once Upon a Time in America" are all rags-to-riches type stories. Is it fair to say 'The Sopranos' is a TV show of the same context?

So, what's one more and why do people need to compare?

Some bum somewhere said once, 'there are no original stories left, just the way they're told'. So, watch, try to enjoy with no preconceived notions and gimme your thoughts overall afterwards!! :)

The Sopranos is ridiculously good.

The Sopranos is ridiculously good.

Not saying it isn't. I'm saying it's not an original concept. It's just brought to TV.

I suppose it depends on what your relationship is with drama like this.

'The Wire' is more my kind of 'understanding' and affinity. Not that I can't relate to 'The Sopranos', it's just the impact is different, personally speaking.

Now you have me thinking!!

For me, I was never into the 'wise guy' scene. I was more like 'Meh!' to see it. Street hustle is the thing I connect to and that's why I like 'The Penguin'.

Ha, fair enough, just have to prise my wife away from the Christmas movies for 5 minutes first!

As 'Columbo' once said... Just one more thing!

It's entirely up to you if you watch the linked film "The Batman" before or after it as this is kind of positioned through it.

Of course, though, you may have seen it already by now.

I'm not a big fan of Pattinson, so that may require a very very dull evening, to earn a viewing, no doubt it will happen though!

Honestly, I get you!

I, too, was not a fan... BUT, his take on 'Bruce Wayne/ The Batman' is quite compelling imo (don't let mine sway yours, though) and it helped that he was a fan of the deconstructed version of 'The Bats' (like from comic 'Ego', 'Year One' etc) and brought that to the screen.

But, as I say, don't let me sway you... Haha!

Glad I'm not the only one who finds her character very annoying
I'm the same. I just forward on the pieces she's in. In fact all of the British side of it is more like Eastenders/Cornation Street/Emerdale.

In fact beyond the actual assassin elements the rest is pretty poor.

I don't care about the home life in England or Spain. I don't care about the office politics. I don't like any of the billionaires ... especially the target.

It should have had a bit of humour or a bit of style. It has neither. Only a really cool assassin played by a very cool actor.
