Two faced city fans

The club need to sort this out and have plans in place for games where there is a large away following. We will see more of this in the future especially if we extend the North Stand.

I've been a member on a Mgb forum as we watched a game there last season. It was obvious that there was a huge demand for tickets for tonight's game from their fans. The club should really have just given them a larger allocation, which would have sorted these problems out. In Germany, the away fans are put next to the family stand, not near the clubs most lively fans. Unfortunately the Germans (wrongly) assumed that was the case here. I did point out that it might not be a great idea to celebrate too wildly in the South Stand.

I bought two tickets for Mgb fans to sit with us at the back of 102. Before the game, I mentioned it to the people around us and the stewards that they were German, but also our guests and our friends. To be fair it was pretty evident that a lot of people in the vicinity were Germans anyway. They cheered when they scored, but generally were pretty respectful.

Let's face it, assuming there's no provocation we should be able to sit next to fans from another team without resorting to scrapping. It was only a few weeks ago that English and French fans stood together at Wembley after the Paris atrocities. Imagine the reaction if some knucklehead would have assaulted French fans for celebrating a goal. Although I'm sure some people on here would try and mitigate it by saying football is a tribal thing.

Unfortunately segregation at football matches is vital, we've seen it now for over 40 years.
It's football not cricket or rugby......unfortunately.

Seriously considering sacking it after tonight, there were more germans in 93.20 than there were City fans. When it kicked off it would have been easier to move the City fans as there were less of us. the club needs to sort this out as it was similar but not quite as bad against Juventus

I heard it was a bit lively in 209 tonight!

I could not foresee any problems at City, in any stand, if away fans acted respectfully and without provocation. Except maybe a United game. A lot of Germans tonight were both disrespectful and provocative. Not a problem, they got it back. Great night, great win CTID

Boosted our attendance the Gladbach fans .

Although i do think we should give European teams a bigger allocation .
If they bring the support .

I'd like to have my say on this. I stand in 115 and have done all season after a forced move from level 2. Was in my seat about 15 mins before kick off and me and the lads I go with all spotted the german following in 114/115. Before kick off each of us had separate conversations with stewards pointing them out and saying how they were Borussia fans and should be dealt with before hand. The stewards replied with "we are monitoring the situation and have cameras on them". 5 minutes before the match all the german fans were chanting away with their fellow supporters in the away end, and it continued into the match, and trust me, they were giving as much shit as they were taking, all the usual banter. The barriers between home and away fans were put there for a reason, to SEPARATE them. The anger in 115 was generally not towards the fans who had got tickets in the home end, but the club, the stewards, and the police, who let it happen. When the equaliser went in, the Borussia fans in 115 were goading the blues, and a fair few blues snapped and took action (handbags to be fair), a situation that should have never been allowed by the club. If you go to another teams ground and buy tickets in the home end then fair play, but you keep your mouth shut. How many of you would go in the Stretford End and cheer when the away team scores and expect to get away with it? I can guarantee very few. Many of us pointed out the situation to the stewards and police and no action was taken, they were given the chance to fix the threat, and they chose to do nothing, not even a segregation until after it had kicked off when it was too late. And to top it off, despite the away fans being pointed out from before the kick off, it was the city fans who were being warned by stewards to back off and keep quiet. The club should be looked at in my opinion as to how these away fans got such a large group of tickets in such a close environment in the home end. And it's not a new issue.

I can only speak of the German fans who were sat near me. Didn't see anyone disrespectful or provocative. Unless you consider them cheering for their team to be in that category?

I've watched City at Schalke, Hamburg, Dortmund, Munich x 3 & Mgb. At most of those grounds (and in others across Europe) I've seen City fans being provocative and being disrespectful. Never saw them filled in though. Maybe these people are more tolerant than our fans.

They were able to get a large group of tickets in the "home end" because a large part of the "home end" weren't there.

You go in the away end, you don't go mental when your team scores.
Why not? That's bollocks. It's just football and the two clubs don't have a particular rivalry with each other. It's just a fucking sport. Had people going nuts around me next to 303. Nobody fought them. Actually they were shaking hands with us and saying "well done" at the end. It's football, not war.

No chance mate. I consider abusive insults against England, my football team, and threats to my wellbeing after the game to be just a tad disrespectful and provocative. You obviously had a better class of fan near you, great. But please don't sneer at those of who didn't, and decided to give it back both barrels. Yeah, Ive been away plenty too thanks and on the whole our fans have been class.

posted about this in the psot match thread but it's more appropriate here. I sit in 114 next to the barrier it was completely surrounded by gladbach fans and as city fans moved over to 115 more gladbach fans appeared in 114. there was 6 of us that refused to move and stayed in our seats completely surrounded by gladbach fans and second half ended up in the makeshift away end as police and stewards blocked off the stairs at 114/115.

The police told us to move, we refused, they agreed we shouldn't have to move and they were not going to force us but basically said you're on your own if it kicks off around you. The most ridiculous thing was stopping them from climbing over to the away side at halftime, that's all they wanted to do but police let them. Spoke to several stewards at the barrier at halftime they all agreed with me when i said surely it's best to have them over there than in the home end with the most vocal fans but people higher up had said no and were trying to figure out a plan.

Have to say, for those moaning about the Gladbach fans, There was no antagonising near me, they simply joined in with their teams songs and had no interest in other people or causing trouble. I went absolutely mental when we went ahead, screaming in their faces and not a single one around me even remotely threatened to kick off with me. They were all very pleasant.

It kicked off when they scored because of city fans not gladbach, understandable considering they were in our end but i blame the pathetic organisation and security from City, the stewards and the police rather than the fans themselves. was also a lot city fans launching bottles and other things into 114, i know because i had to dodge most of them.

Most of them were wearing gladbach merchandise how the hell were they allowed entry into the home end in the first place when they are not even trying to hide the fact they are away fans?

Thought the German fans were brilliant. Couldn't be more supportive and very friendly

Yes I'm aware of that, but surely there is some way of determining who is buying the tickets. I know it's something that has been questioned before as many non-city fans have managed to get tickets in our end home and away. If it was just a couple of fans in that block that had bought tickets then fair enough, but it was 40 or so fans in one corner right next to the away fans. And as stated above by ninjamonkey, they were all wearing colours, and weren't hiding the fact that they were away fans, they simply shouldn't have been allowed to get in.

Sick to death of away fans in 102 and 104 every europe match this season, hundreds of them - like people have said if as an away fan you go in the home end try and blend in and don't celebrate or at least tone it down. This lot (and the last 2 this season as well) leap around and then turn and goad the city fans, they rub it in, chant and shout, they look at us not their team, gloating. Now i'm a grown up, i can take it (!) BUT we shouldn't actually have to, all this happy clappy "can't we all get along diddums" rubbish spouted by some is a joke... we as home fans in that area are sick to teh back teeth of being outnumbered at times and i know some have felt intimidated. Intimidated. In their own damn cup scheme seats. Some get trapped in their own seats boxed in by away fans all around them - how is that a pleasant "match day experience"??! Just cos other fans don't turn up, those that do (and always do) get shafted by having gloating chanting fans sneering in their faces.
I tell you what... they weren't sneering at the end ;)

Its not bollocks though its common sense. You may prefer it not to be like that in an ideal world but it is. I cant go to an away match, in the away end, shout my gob off and then whilst Im getting my head stoved in say to myself "it shouldnt be like this". Well I could do, but then a big part of me would think "but why did i shout my gob off". We have all been to loads of away games in the wrong end, wanting to celebrate, but if you've got one, your brain kicks in and you think "I'll leave it till later". Its just common sense really.

Must have been a very strange situation. I was sat on the halfway line and I could see you mixed in together. Was waiting for it to go off after the goals. Really it could have been a lot lot worse. Really stewards should have known what was going to happen and segregated the groups

A pity City fans didn't buy those seats because they missed a great night

Great shout. The ones near us went ghostly white. Loved it.
