Both Manchester teams, (with the reds looking frighteningly good)

Ay Aye, Rag Alert anyone? There's admitting the Scum are playing well, then there's this!!

Oh.. ehmmm... I... I was... I was temporarily disillusioned, - yeah that's right! I.... drank 24 bottles of beer in three minutes before posting that. Excuse good enough?

No need to worry mate, my heart is in the right place, and thus I am a blue.

It's certainly one helluva start to the season. Start as we mean to go on! Just one or two lapses of concentration could lose any team the title, if the standard is as good as it's making out to be.

Wouldn't quite right off Chelsea and Liverpool yet. If Suarez stays fit all season with no European football they may be the dark horses.

The key for us will be the games around the champions league - we have tough away games after each group match whereas Rags have a bunch of amateurs in their group and play at home (this may be key).

Hopefully our squad will be good enough to cope

Us, them and Chelsea will be the top 3 (not necessarily in that order) and at least 20 points clear of Liverpool in 4th. Both Arsenal and Spurs need at least 3 players each to get anywhere near.

Come the beginning of 2012 I fully expect there to still be 5 teams there or there abouts. Us, rags, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal. So i'm not convinced by the idea that it will be a two or three horse race just yet.

Long season ahead and we will without doubt have a bad run of form like everyone does at some point.

Arsenal? I know it's early days but something appears very rotten at that club.

I agree, things are bad for Wenger right now. But let us not forget that he has consistently over achieved in the last five years, even if he hasn't won anything. He hasn't had a squad capable of winning the CL or the PL, and some would say that with the exception of RVP, Nasri, and Fabregas, there's been a distinct paucity of genuine quality within their ranks. Yet in March last year people were talking about them doing the quadruple...

I'm just too wary to ever write off a man like Arsene Wenger. As much as his recent ramblings have left me thinking he's losing it, he's still the guy I'd have over anyone and everyone else as manager of City...

I'd agree with you circa 2004 without a doubt. I actually remember saying to my dad during one of their superb displays "I wonder how great it must be to be an Arsenal fan right now...." however, he does seem to be experiencing a very public nervous breakdown.

The kids they have coming through don't have the 2 year bedding in period that previous teams had (playing in CC and coming on in games they are bossing), they are getting a baptism of fire and appear to be coming up wanting.

Big advantage.

Look what happened to Arsenal yesterday after their game in Udine. That was a factor, and we have 6 aways after our 6 group games. That will hurt us

Wenger, much like Fergie, is a company man, and we'll therefore never really know how much money he actually has to spend. People have been quick to criticize him for not buying replacements for Nasri and Fabregas, or bidding a derisory figure for Cahill, but the truth is none of us really know how much money he has or how much control he has over what Arsenal pay for players. It reminds me of the Fergie quote "there's no value in the market" when people were questioning whether he had money to spend. We'll never know the truth of it because he would never publicly go against the Glazers. I reckon there's an element of that going on at Arsenal. I can't believe that Wenger is responsible for the dithering which saw Alvarez join Inter or Mata join Chelsea. Arsenal are still a top drawer for players and Wenger is still considered all over the world as one of the greatest of all time.

I do think the facade at the Emirates is cracking, but I'm not going to bet against Wenger coming out the other side of it with a trophy and a vindicated smile on his face just yet...

has to be 3 but think Dippers will be a lot closer - results against them could determine whom win the prem

Three teams all the way to end of April, with Liverpool not far behind, but I fancy them for a good cup run and think they will be distracted by that, as there squad isn't as strong as ours.
