Txiki Begiristain to leave role at end of season

We are rightly proud of our transfer record, it's been borderline flawless, until recently. The recent missteps will cost us dearly.

But we bought Doku, Nunes and Phillips for £150m

We sold Cole Palmer (£42) Morgan Rogers (£4) and Pedro Porro (£17) for £63 in total, including the sell on fees for Porro and Rogers. Porro and Rogers actually cost us £15m combined, so profit was only £49 on those 3.

No disrespect to the lads bought, but we're down £100m in fees, and I think we end up with a real diminution in quality in key areas.

We also fell out with Laporte and Cancelo, and sold them for a song, they'd be a real addition now. I get it that Cancelo was an egotistical mard arse, but a fantastic player.

We've made very significant transfer errors, and that's what eventually kills a squad, spending money, but overpaying for inferior quality. Arsenal and United have been doing it for years.

We've had great successes in the market, but they feel like the older ones rather than the more recent deals...
Different windows different positions and different reasons it’s not that straight forward

Maybe I didn't phrase it correctly but we're essentially net spend champions of all the notional competing clubs when we shouldn't be. We've allowed the pack to catch up, money in the bank is worthless.

Not really. It’s worth a fucking lot if it’s used properly for a brilliant refresh.

Gvardiol the only one feels a great signing recently, having said that he was top rated young defender at Leipzig, in his case I dont rate the scouting of him given his well known status(same as you dont need big scouting to think greatly of Wirtz or Musiala), more the fact we managed to get him and not let others beat us to him.

He tried his fucking best to miss out on Gvardiol spent about 8 weeks haggling over 5 million.

Wouldn't think so, players will go anywhere for money
Players playing for teams like Wolves/Rennes/Girona, sure. They will likely take the chance to join the perhaps best team in the world despite charges hanging over us. But elite players thats not desperate to leave their current club and/or thats wanted by all the big clubs and can more or less pick and choose.. Why wouldn't they be hesitant to join City while we have these charges hanging over us? Because our guys in charge tells them to not worry about it?
For a player like Bellingham, when he has a decision to make between joining us or Real Madrid, us having the threat of possibly being relegated will of course be something thats taken into consideration and that can tip the scale in the Real Madrids favour. I'm not saying he would have definitely joined us without these charges hanging over us but I think it's naive to assume it has no impact on anyones decision. Of course it does.
