Txiki Begiristain to leave role at end of season

Read to me that he is retired not leaving for elsewhere, if that is correct then it should have no bearing on Pep unless Pep always planned to retire at the same time as a guy who is over a decade older than him. If he's retired he's gone for good and won't ever be working with Pep again so whats best for Pep staying here or going elsewhere ?

Overall he’s done brilliant for city. The last 2 years were questionable?? The midfield situation and no Haaland backup. Obviously that’s not all Txixi but it’s a huge part of his job. Wasn’t there also rumours sorriano was the one dealing with Atletico over alvarez?

A very fine job done all in all and a very deserved retirement

There's an obsession with Pep leaving, you're right why should he leave if he is enjoying his time here?

Best of luck to Txiki. Can't begrudge him retiring at 60 with plenty of notice and a handover period.

Hopefully it'll be a nice smooth transition. I'm intrigued to find out who the successor is.

Compare and contrast with the shambolic Rag DoF stand off with Newcastle. Perfectly planned, with the replacement lined up and a 6 month handover - top, top professionalism (although I wouldn't expect anything less).
I have no doubt the search will have been world class for the next torch bearer ..

Also, BIG thank you Tixi. You have been instrumental behind the scenes during the most dominant period in English football - you'll be missed. We'll probably never really know how much your support kept Pep with us far longer than we all hoped.

Sounds like this has been in the pipeline for a long time and that to have had Txiki for an extra few years has been a big bonus. The fact that we already have a successor lined up who's going to take over in January/February makes me think this has been going on in the background for about six months at least. That also makes me think Pep has had some involvement in this and will stay on during the early years of the new regime before handing the keys over. I think Pep renews for two years in November and then that'll be that. He'll do 10 years on the dot and bow out.
