I thought they were good myself.
Rather than make a pre-judgement on Bono being a pretentious **** (which he is of course) I would rather think for a 51 year old his voice held up well enough to put on a decent performance.
As for the comment about the crowd, how were they not enjoying it ?
Flags waving, singing along and all in a massive downpour.

Completely agree mate, how can people say the crowd weren't enjoying it... a few times Bono let them take lead vocals and thousands of people shouted back the lyrics. It was hammering down with rain yet thousands of people went to see them, sang along and every time the camera showed the crowd people were smiling and singing along.
I can understand people not liking Bono, I'm a U2 fan, but can't say I particularly like him. But like you say his voice was decent enough and they put on a good show.
It was pretty much a greatest hits set and even if you don't like U2 you can't deny they have some absolute tunes in their back catalogue. U2 aren't a ''cool'' band anymore, I appreciate that and their latest albums aren't great either. But they put on a good show, fair play to them.
