UEFA Cup (europa league)

Re: UEFA Cup

It was good enough for Chelsea to win a couple of years back when they were having a pretty shit season, crap in the league, out of the CL and they put their heart and soul into the Europa League and won it...can't recall their fans saying it was a waste of their time afterwards. Gave them a platform to build on for last season and this season.
Of course we are the mighty Man City, feared throughout Europe for our recent European exploits and we are quite clearly far too big and good for a shitty little tournament like the UEFA Cup...a trophy won in recent years by shit teams like Athletico Madrid, Chelsea, Sevilla...you know, teams that nobody has ever heard of.

Re: UEFA Cup

Winning Europa League + FA Cup I would consider successful season. Or Europa League + PL, but that is unlikely given thursday/sunday. Of course just PL would do for me, but European success even if its "just" Europa League wouldn't do us any harm, if only it would increase our prestige a bit.

But then again, I don't think this group of players we have got are even motivated in playing in the EL. They are not even motivated to play in CL properly.

Right now would I take the Europa League and 2nd place in the Premier League? Abso-fucking-lutely.

Any City fan who thinks we can turn our nose up at a European trophy that has been won by Juventus, Atletico, Ajax and Liverpool is an idiot.

Winning this would give us more prestige on the continent than 10 Capital One Cups would.
Correct!

Im not an idiot-I Cant stand the Europa League its truly awful on Thursdays?-NO!
Luckily you don't run our club. I could do without Thursday nights, and Sundays, but I'd love us to win it, it would leave us with only 1 trophy that we haven't yet won.

Not for me. If we go out of the chumps, as seems very likely, full focus on the double ;.)

It made Atlético what they are in my opinion. It started breeding belief on the European stage for that club, winning it two out of three years. And then last year they knew what it takes to succeed in Europe and took their experiences from the EL and took them into the CL and made the final.

Indeed Simeone built Athletico on the back of that and it laid the foundation for a couple of fantastic seasons for them. I think a good Europa run would do us no harm, it would certainly give us more experience in Europe which seems to be vital as we play like a team that has never been in Europe before.

For now I think we should just be focusing on one game at a time. Carry on playing like we are and we won't be focusing on anything other than making the top 4.

I would much rather forgoe the absolute drain on resources that is the Europa League for another serious attempt at a Premier League title.

Mourinho won nothing in his first season back at Chelsea, and this season may over extend them going for all competitions. Not being in the Europa League will put us in a very advantageous position.

Bring it on I say. Another trip to Prague (went there for Plzen) would do me just fine. The Europa League is a much better experience for fans than the plastic farce that is the Chumps League.
