Spot on. When someone asked him a FFP-related question several months ago on Twitter he said it wasn't his domain and someone like Nick Harris would be better placed to answer ffs!

As you say, he seems a nice enough bloke - unlike many of his other fellow journalists - but he's best off sticking to stuff he does know about rather than trying to call it based on 2 so-called "experts" talking about a series of hypothetical scenarios relating to the appeal.

Yep, exactly this. Also heard him on second captains pod a few months back about FFP and he was an embarassment then. On the other hand, he was a guest with Ahsan on 93:20 this week with just the 2 of them chating for well over an hour and that was v good.

Each to their own.

I like him mainly based on most of the pods I hear him on - 93:20, Bluemoon, Athletic etc etc.
Also, some of his written stuff on the Athletic is v good but he flounders with FFP.

He's also been a sneaky cùnt towards us too with some articles in the past, I just can't trust Journalists, and a Rag one like him even more.

Sam Lee has changed his position since his "exclusive" at the back end last year where suggested we'd only get a fine..his sources were wrong on that one... but he is now thinking the ban will be upheld. He said on a pod this week as well that people he'd spoken to around the club weren't confident.

I like Sam but he is out of his depth IMO with FFP stuff. Hope he gets this completely wrong :)

The tweet is from today but the article he links to is about 10 days old:

"People at the club were not confident"
Well Sam Lee, I have known many influential people at City over the years and before our present owners you would always hear details of what was going on. Since 2008 nothing, diddly squat, nowt gets out that the directors don't want out. Mr Lee is peddling nonsence because no one of influence at City would give him any information of what the main men are thinking.

I would say soriano would not make a dick of himself on camera if he wasn't completely confident,i will believe him for now thanks sam

Seeing UEFA’s decision today that sporting merit will decide CL spots meaning that United finish 5th (2 points ahead of Sheffield United with game more played).

I am unfortunately more confident then ever of the ban being upheld and our place going to the scum.

Those VAR decisions such as that Everton one have really done their job

I’m beginning to think his ‘club contacts’ are one of the comfy chairs in the reception and a lawnmower. He’s not well connected at all and a bit of a billy bullshitter. Don’t know him personally and he may be a nice guy but he knows nothing about City safe for what’s in the public domain. The Athletic promised lots but hiring a broad cross section of the existing UK sports journalists has just given the same old crowd a new place to spout shit unfortunately- and if you are daft enough you can pay to read it.
He seemingly got plenty of transfer bits of news, although more holes for that info to get out.

As for The Athletic, its a great website if you read more than just about Football so please dont tar it with that rubbish. They hired what they could and left a lot of the other suspects out thankfully.

If he is guessing perhaps his writings will be seen more by those who want us banned. Not sure his employers are sympathetic to anything other than revenue at the moment.

yep all those disallowed goals against them recently have probably done the job,as soon as we got banned they started getting decisions that not the dippers get,it was blatant to get them fourth
