In the first place nmc it is UEFA that are instigated the FFP trial. They could have of course have turned around and said there is no evidence to prove we have broken any FFP rules. They did not do this, so yes we go after them. Then hopefully they will do all they can to help us go after those clubs who forced UEFA to do this.

I am not sure a law suit is the best revenge against Der Spiegel anyway. If for example someone could show that they only used selected parts of the stolen material to run a campaign, their reputation for doing well researched and independent, investigative journalism could quickly suffer a lot. That I think would harm them much more than any law suits ever could. In fact I think a law suit might even help them as they defend the free speech against the evil Arabs. We need a much more subtle plan if we want revenge. I surely want revenge by the way.

Nothing, the idea of suing a magazine for publishing something they'd got hold of is ludicrous, even before getting to the image of muzzling the press.

That would be like someone giving me an email from Platini to Gill, and not being able to publish it.

Precisely. There's a pressure group within UEFA which has an aim which we appear to be on the wrong end of. That's all there is to it.

K55 if I say something that I know is untrue then that is slanderous and I can be sued. If it is printed it then becomes libellous and can also be sued. Now whether they have the same laws in Germany and Switzerland is what I don't know.

If they do then why shouldn't we do that.

Nothing that I can see, and being a high profile investigative paper I would think their legal department is both large and very competent and unlikely to let them print stuff that would get them in much trouble.

On top of that, it just doesn't look good for the club's owners to go after a free press or be seen to be gagging papers.

Nothing that I can see, and being a high profile investigative paper I would think their legal department is both large and very competent and unlikely to let them print stuff that would get them in much trouble.

There are many more examples of their lies and complete fabrication of stories, in short they print stuff all the time that is complete bollocks.

Most media is full of complete lies, across all platforms and in all areas of reporting.

They only reported redacted versions of City emails showing what they wanted them to say, we would have to see the whole string of emails for the correct context of each email, then we could see the truth and/or lies of said emails.

Also, the emails were hacked illegally and to be honest there really was not that much in them for Der Spiegel to report on, but we are where we are, so not long now to the first challenge to UEFA at CAS, we will have much more idea of where we stand very soon.

Anyhow, as you state I don’t think most organisations including City would want to be seen as ‘gagging’ the free press.

What a great way to run a business. It will then give all the media Carte Blanche to carry on telling all sort of lies against the good name of Manchester City knowing the club will do nothing.
