What for? Being German?
All media output is considered to be the equivalent of the written word, therefore there could be no cause of action for slander for anything appearing in the media, claims for which are extremely rare. One of the reasons why it has gone quite in all the media is that they do not want themselves to be sued for either libel or slander. If this happens they could possibly open themselves to being sued for £'s millions in damages, which most media output's could ill afford to pay. Even those like the big organizations like Sky.
Apologies if this is old for some of you but I've not seen it before and feel it would trigger many a rag, so should be circulated more:
Top 25 most expensive players in PL history, using Tomkins Times Transfer Price Index model.
City have 0 players in the top 10, and only 2 players in the top 25. It wont surprise many City fans to learn City don't look anywhere near the worst culprits for market inflation in the PL era but it should silence the few journos and pundits who make vague claims to that effect.
I did a Law module in my ONC in Business Studies many years ago, I’m not googling this but I think I remember the defences to slander were:All media output is considered to be the equivalent of the written word, therefore there could be no cause of action for slander for anything appearing in the media, claims for which are extremely rare.
It could be that the twitter guy has used the football leaks transfer figure that shows it was less than the reported £38m. Whereas Tomkins probably took £38m as the figure. The TTTPI is good in that it gives a vague idea of what a transfer value is like across many years/decades.
However with anything related to Liverpool, you have to be wary of the story getting in the way of facts.
Eg Aguero figure on that Twitter, isn’t the same as on other info from Tomkins in May 19
https://tomkinstimes.com/2019/05/ma...ding-a-factual-transfer-price-index-analysis/ 130m cf 108m
Or also from May 19
https://tomkinstimes.com/transfer-price-index-top-100-premier-league-buys-after-inflation/
Aguero 9th cf 16th
Also look at Carroll (Liverpool)
So either the Twitter guy has tweaked the list,or Tomkins gives different data out...
I'm nonplussed.its certainly a plus.
