The cynic in me worries how independent CAS actually are. Around 10% of their income comes from FIFA, so a vested interest in cases involving other football authorities?

CAS after all are the organisation who couldn't give a straightforward decision as to whether Caster Semanya had a pair of bollocks in her running shorts!

Very independent. They wouldn't be the worldwide accepted arbitration service if they weren't.

The whole trial is about the Barclays deal with Shiekh Mansour so you can expect him to be mentioned once or twice. I was more surprised when Shinawatra got a cameo. And David Mellor. And a host of others.

Dan Roan just got a volley.

Made my day that.

Miss Staveley has not had a good day either?

Lots of presumptions.

Let's hope our case over Zoom last week was much more prepared!

I just said to Stefan - imagine they'd streamed the CAS case like that. Wow. Would've been quite the show. He reckons with it being over 3 days it would've been much more dynamic too. Fast and targeted attacks from both sides.

Well, good to see some level of corroboration of the HH = SM case. Regardless, as has been said, City would never have run that argument that it was someone else. It was always weak.
There's still a possibility that “alternative sources provided by His Highness” translate to "Sponsorship from Executive Affairs Authority, provided by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan".

Yes indeed. There's still a possibility. Its as big a possibility as you want it to be too.

Looking at all the evidence available to you what do you think the outcome will be. Are we just reliant on disproving the email?
In a nutshell, I have to assume that unless City were supremely confident (having seen all of the written submissions and having taken advice) they would have done a deal at 1 year. As the stakes are so high for City there will always have been consideration of settling even if they felt they had not breached. So if City were supremely confident before CAS, then we should assume they will win. No guarantees of course but thats how I read it.

Do you think that after CAS 1, CAS judges would have spoke to the lawyers / staff of City about the case i.e. over and above the documentation they issued so that City would have an informed opinion of the outcome of CAS 2? I think going to CAS 1 was an extremely smart thing to do. We tested the water.

I don't think so - that would impact the independence of the panel. CAS will have followed the procedure set out in the rules with written submissions and addressed any follow on requests from the panel.

I've had him blocked for a while as he's a boring, clueless dickhead and I wasn't going to waste any more energy on him. I assumed he couldn't block me if I'd blocked him but he has. I think someone's had a strong word with Migs.
Seems his paper upheld a complaint made by a Newcastle fan against him. Clearly he's been told to delete offensive tweets and stop being a dick.
