The issue is when dealing with people with no shame and no integrity is they don’t have the ability to self-reflect and they certainly don’t have the capacity to apologise with sincerity.

Hence why if we win it will barely be reported and when it is it will be in the light of ‘got off on a technicality’ / ‘bribed their way out of it’.

If anyone thinks the scumbag press in this country will hold their hands up and say ‘we’ve been wrong for years! Sorry City, UEFA are ****s and so are we!’ then you’re going to be in for a sad time. They will move the goalposts and will continue to imply wrongdoing on our part.

None of this matters. What's important is that we win and we draw a line and move on. We'll do our talking on the pitch and mop up all the trophies on offer.

Bluemoon is a discussion forum - it stands to follow that people are discussing the CAS hearing in here, as the thread title indicates.

This isn’t supposed to be a news outlet, which only confirms concrete updates on the case. There are plenty of options out there if that’s what you’re looking for.

It's a discussion forum? well i am shocked!!

Not really the first statement can be the usually response and pretty basic with at the end have we will make a further statement later.

Even it were as simple as that, which it really isn’t, then that doesn’t explain why City would be told hours before the public when that’s not the normal procedure. They could still put out your statement and have known for a week.

Public perception definitely matters to the club (not me, I’m the same as you - winning trophies is all the talking that matters). Public Perception is why Liverpool and UEFA leaked the Champion’s League ban, 8 months or so before the verdict was delivered, the day after we won the domestic treble. It’s why the club have complained to CAS that their is a concentrated effort to damage our brand off the pitch.

Sadly though we are stuck with these ****y bloggers and opinion piece writers that call themselves journalists.

So why do they keep it quiet?
“An award pronounced by the CAS is final and binding on the parties from the moment it is communicated. It may in particular be enforced in accordance with the New York Convention on the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards, which more than 125 countries have signed.”

Not only that but: “A party may, not later than 45 days following the notification of the award, apply to CAS for the interpretation of an award issued in an ordinary or appeals arbitration, if the operative part of the award is unclear, incomplete, ambiguous, if its components are self-contradictory or contrary to the reasons, or if the award contains clerical mistakes or mathematical miscalculations.

When an application for interpretation is filed, the President of the relevant Division shall review whether there are grounds for interpretation. If so, she/he shall submit the request for interpretation to the Panel which rendered the award. Any Panel members who are unable to act at such time shall be replaced in accordance with Article R36. The Panel shall rule on the request within one month following the submission of the request for interpretation to the Panel.“

These dates and timelines are fundamental and all state they apply from when the decision is communicated.
Whatever the result, as I asked at the start, why would you keep it quiet if you knew? City/EUFA ‘win/lose’ but that is overturned because the ‘winner’ spilled the beans before Monday? It makes absolutely no sense unless I’m being a bit denser than usual, which is always possible, especially on a Friday.....

They keep it quiet because they have to.

Project river has gone over the process many times. Sorry but I’m going with his expertise on this.

Well all the media will already be at the draw venue and no doubt will already have been pressing and pushing for news, so they can be the first ones to tweet out their gossip

Not seen anything at all... which can surely only be a good sign

Piece of cake. Don’t know why companies pay big bucks for comms teams.
Completely agree. The idea we can put out some one liner in the midst of a negative result and the ensuing storm is not realistic to me. We have been so strident and aggressive in our response that a negative result is a massive story quite apart from the story of the ban itself. That all said perhaps City see it differently and believe they can front it out.

Good faith in an arbitration process, and to keep a reputation for future activity?

The rules of CAS are for all cases, and scrutinising with respect to a single matter may distort the purpose.

One other thing to consider is that it may be CAS inform parties on Monday and release publicly Tuesday or Wednesday. Or maybe they just think any attempt to keep it confidential once released to the parties is impossible hence the short gap.

And don't forget, people are only concentrating on our press statement - this is a colossal wider comms exercise. CIty have thousands of employees/stakeholders around the world who all need to be considered as part of an internal comms plan. There is simply no way City should be expected to finalise all this in a few hours on Monday morning - and I can't see any way we would have agreed to the delay if this is how it would be communicated.

What do you mean by ‘concrete’?

Have I remembered you right in that sometimes the gap is to give the parties not only a chance to check the draft but also to speak to each other in confidence before the Big Bang...albeit that this doesn’t happen much?

City may well know the verdict but quite possibly only a handful of people so that no leaks possible. For example: Khaldoon, Berrada and the Barca duo.
