UEFA plan controversial changes to prize money distribution

Yeh I fancy us to win the league, so the seeding isn't the major issue.

The issue for me is prize money being allocated relative to coefficients.

Gill and his cronies have introduced FFP rules that essentially state spending on players must come from revenue. They are now introducing new rules that restrict our ability to increase revenue, while increasing their own.

Giving themselves extra coefficient points, and therefore extra money, based on trophies won 50 years ago, to me is an absurdity.

How Martin Samuel is the only journalist with the balls and intergrity to highlight Gill's conflict of interest is an absolute scandal.

The absolute crux of the matter. The time surely has come for competing clubs to reject these unjustified and corrupt changes.

Obviously David Gill and the Milan mafia remain the people who need to be de-throned.

This has to be exposed as the cheating corrupt ploy it is and fought to the death by all the other clubs and their fans. You can guess what comes next can't you? The same rule applied to the premier league.

I reject them mate, and that's why I'll boo the UEFA anthem at the top of my lungs at every CL game I attend.

Totally accept your stance and that of every supporter who does the same.

But my concern is what steps our management , and the management of other clubs affected are doing to stop such flagrant abuse and corruption. It would seem that United and the Milan teams are the biggest " pigs at the trough " , based upon a historical standing ??

Fuck progress and the future ...................... let's protect " the greedy and entitled has beens " .

Absolutely agree mate.

How can David Gill sit on the board of Manchester United, the FA, UEFA, FIFA, the ECA, and the board that decides FFP punishment? It's an absolute absurdity. In any other walk of life it would be considered a conflict of interest, except in the sleazy, underhand world of football politics.

Martin Samuel is the only journalist with the balls and integrity to report on it. All the other sports journalists are too afraid to report the truth in case they receive a ban from Old Trafford, as so many received in the past for having the temerity to cross Fergurson.

They need real sweeping change at UEFA. The problems at UEFA are just as big as at FIFA in my view. As opposed to a load of men from obscure footballing nations holding too much power and being corrupted by bungs, at UEFA, the power is held by a few men in suits who sit on the boards of the world's biggest football clubs.

The level of corruption and abuse is the same, they just have different motivations. This is institutional corruption as opposed to a few weak men being bought off for a few million quid.

The appetite for corruption and self-serving decision making is built in to the very structure of UEFA. By allowing the ECA to wield so much power, UEFA finds itself powerless in club football.

The only way it can change is if the new guy comes in and clears Gill and the rest of the ECA out. He should say to them, go and start your own Super League by all means, but your club and players will be banned from all UEFA and FIFA competitions. See how many players sign up for that.

I'd be amazed if this new ruling doesn't get challenged by a number of clubs. I just can't see it getting passed when it is so blatantly corrupt and monopolising.
On the booing issue, I don't think it helps our cause at all. In fact, I think Utd, Milan, Real et al all hope we carry on booing as it gives them a nice little stick to beat us with when it comes to these sorts of negotiations. I think it does make us look small time and with the players, management and owners all wanting us to stop, I feel it's time for us to do so. The club will look after our interests when it comes to UEFA. We need to trust in them to take us forward.

The correct term to describe these proposals/regulations is 'cheating'. If the new head man at UEFA means a scrap of what he has said about this new 'deal' it should be consigned to the waste bin and it should be made plain to the barons of Milan and Stretford that if they wish to break away they may do so, but that they and their players will never again be allowed to take part in any UEFA/FIFA tournament. Could anyone tell me who holds the registration of the players because if it is a UEFA/FIFA affiliated association, presumably the contracts would lapse as soon as the club left the bosom of the official body. I can't see too many clubs or players following Marchetti into the wilderness. Gill's career at UEFA should be terminated forthwith.

It would be a pretty shit breakaway competition if Milan and United were the main teams! :-)

If this gets the go ahead it will be just the start. Next will be automatic qualification for clubs who meet a certain criteria irrespective of where they finish in their leagues. Won three or more champions leagues?...You're in!

Time to give that corrupt organisation the fucking elbow. Start scouting for support from other clubs and chase backing from China and The USA. If we can persuade enough backing through this T V and sponsorship that would offer teams more money from a alternative competition then go for it. Would love us to win the league for the next two seasons and then tell them to fuck off and stick their corrupt cup where the sun don't shine. May be a bit of a pipe dream but would it to happen. No chance of us getting nearer to sell outs in the Champions League if the get this passed will just intensify the hatred with our fans with UEFA.

Well that does it then, we'll just have to win it...

Just pondering whether or not to heed SB of the MUEN or Pep on the Booing stance..

"In Pep we trust"

Every single football reporter not pouring scorn on this should hang their head in shame. It seems only Martin Samuel is giving it coverage to any real extent.

Unbelievable how supporters of clubs who are profiting from this find it very justifiable. Have they no shame when knowing how blatantly favouritist it is.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin suffers blow as he won't be able to change Champions League format for minimum of five years
- Aleksander Ceferin won't be able to change format for at least five years
- This is according to sources close to the executive committee
- Last week Ceferin replaced France legend Michel Platini as the UEFA chief
By ROB DRAPER FOR THE MAIL ON SUNDAY
New UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin will not be able to change the Champions League format for at least five years, according to sources close to the executive committee.
Ceferin is the little-known Slovenian lawyer who last week replaced charismatic France legend Michel Platini as UEFA chief, garnering votes on the back of anger from smaller nations at a new Champions League deal which favours English, German, Italian and Spanish clubs and gives them 16 of the 32 group-stage slots from 2018.
But the deal, brokered by FA vice chairman David Gill, was explained in more depth last week at a seminar following the election of Ceferin.
Aleksander Ceferin can't change the new Champions League format for at least five years
Members of UEFA’s executive committee, who have already agreed the deal with the major clubs and their representative body, the European Club Association, believe their explanation went some way to defusing the anger of the smaller federations. But it did little to placate European Leagues supremo Lars-Christer Olsson.
‘It’s a scandal,’ said Olsson, head of European Professional Football Leagues, which includes the Premier League. ‘It was all too rushed. Why is Uefa surrendering to the top clubs? We are asking UEFA to start the process again. There has been no proper consultation. We have an understanding with Uefa but if we terminate this our leagues will be able to play when they like.
‘This is not just sabre-rattling, it’s a serious threat.’
In the seminar, at which Gill spoke, it was spelt out that the threat of a breakaway league by bigger clubs was credible and UEFA had at least negotiated a deal which continued the flow of money to smaller nations.
Ceferin’s revolt against the new Champions League format was the centre-piece of his election campaign but he will have wait until 2021, when the deal runs out, to make major changes, though he may not be president then. Ceferin will complete Platini’s four-year term until 2019, with the former president forced out in disgrace.

Looks like only a UEFA general meeting can throw this out.

Once again Gill is at the root of the conspiracy at UEFA to keep the Rags and other faded teams protected despite the fact that they are not good enough to actually earn the extra money .

Yet another stain on the very tarnished reputation of UEFA and their protection of their favoured teams.

It would seem that MS is the only reporter with any balls or non-affiliation to the Rags.

The remainder are just the usual arse-licking sycophants and cowards who have no intention of offending the supporters of the history clubs. No surprise that they are not addressing this issue.
