This is the one voted by the people of the world. No rags included but no City or Chelsea players either, nor Van Persie FC. Bale the only PL player that shows just how highly regarded he has become outside of England too. Still would have Vidic or Kompany ahead of Pique myself but it's a good team. Thiago Silva deserves a spot, absolute class player and the man Mancini wants for us but we'll be lucky to get him.

Casillas; Alves, Pique, Thiago Silva, Marcelo; Robben, Xavi, Iniesta, Bale; Messi, Ronaldo

Bale is more overrated than (insert name of any rag aged under 29) has ever been.

There's one name that stands out like a sore thumb in that lineup, and it's Gareth Bale. Every single one of the others is a true World Class footballer, the best in their position, and would be likely to start for any side in Europe. Gareth Bale, albeit a good player, is not anywhere near than level. Reputation wise he's still living off that Inter Milan game, which is where most "UEFA users" will have seen him.

Do that same vote in 12 months time and Bale won't even be a consideration for the Team of the Year.

Still do not understand the awe of Bale, he scored something like 7 goals last season and got one assist and suddenly hes on Messi and Ronaldo's level, bollocks. He's a pacey, sometimes effective winger, but far from a world beater.

Genuine question to those who oppose the obvious point of interest. Who'd you have in there on the left instead?

pedro? villa? Drop Ronaldo into a wide role and put Tevez (based on last year) up top next to Messi?

It's based on the calendar year of 2011 so Tevez has no chance of being there.

I'm surprised Robben made it though given how little (comparatively) he's figured this year, iirc he was injured until the end of February and has been in and out all of this season thus far.

Silva?

Honestly I think the team would benefit more from having genuine pace in there as opposed to a player like Silva, I think with Xavi Iniesta and Messi there is obviously enough creativity and guile, you need someone with the movement and pace to be able to make the most of the space they will unlock. Someone mentioned Pedro but he's right footed isn't he? I'm sure I've always seen him play on the right, and I think this team would benefit from someone getting chalk on their heels and there's fuck all chance of Robben doing that.

I'm not saying Bale is on the same level as the other players on the team, that would be a silly thing to say of course, but I would say that the attributes he brings would be a whole different kind of outlet for the team.

Bale being overrated in europe is exactly the same as people in England raving about players in Spain, Italy or the other top leagues, players we never see play, but seem to think are some kind of super humans? Eden hazard comes to mind.

Bale has 7 goals and 8 assists already this season. Last season I would have said he was overated, but not this season.

I cannot put into words how overratted Bale is and how 2 games against Inter have made everyone in Europe think he is a world beater. Many teams have shown how you stop Bale in the PL

It isnt just 2 games against inter is it though. Look at his stats this season there is only one midfielder who has more assists than him (Silva) and only one midfielder who has scored more than him and he takes pens (Lampard). Forget all the overblown hype of 12 months ago, this year he is delivering.

6 goals, 7 assists according to <a class="postlink" href="http://www.eplindex.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.eplindex.com</a>.

In 56% of the game time, Nasri has 2 goals and 7 assists and he's been a disappointment to many. In 35% of the game time Johnson has 5 goals and 1 assist and he's not pulled up any trees either.
