Should someone convicted of any violence be banned? From abh to murder for example.or just right wing violence?

Doubt a murderer would need to be banned. Not many on day release on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Unlike murder, for arson that endangers life the minimum threshold is not intent, but recklessness. That you knew the risk and continued anyway. There are good public policy reasons for this.

A tough one to defend in the circumstances, I reckon.

I would guess BBC are instructed to act in a de-escalating way of reporting to not pour more oil into the fire.

It's the same principle as Police not behaving in an overly aggressive or repressive manner.

The death of the 3 young girls was kind of signal event and the best way to get control back in the streets is de-escalation.
