UK far right trouble

We've got excrement being poured into lakes, rivers and seas by water companies paying billions to their shareholders.
We've got a rail network outside the Home Counties that isn't fit for purpose.
We've got energy companies ripping us off even while the wholesale price of energy has tumbled.
We've seen politicians' cronies ripping us off for billions over PPE.
We've got new housing developments being snapped up by Chinese investors instead of being used for social housing.
We've got the poorest pensions in Western Europe, with old people forced to choose between food and fuel.
We've got a problem with getting treatment by the NHS, particularly mental health services.
Our armed forces could barely defend against united's attack.
We've seen money poured into London's infrastructure while the North has been denied investment for years.

These are all the things we could legitimately take to the streets over yet we're being told by those on the right, and their mouthpieces in the media, that people coming over in small boats, who are a fraction of the number of legal immigrants, are the cause of all our problems. Yes, we need to sort that out but it wouldn't be at the top of my list of demands.
Exactly. I am so proud that black people, Jewish people, Asian people or whatever support my club. It's not where you are from. It's where you are

Those at the bottom of society told to be angry at the folk in dighys for making them poor - by the folk who own yachts.

It is truly frightening the level of effort being made by some on here to rationalise and normalise totally unacceptable behaviour and/or outright violent criminality, which is largely based on xenophobia, racism, nonsensical conspiracies, exceedingly obvious mis/disinformation, and even blatant grifting.

I truly despair at the future of our country (and America where I currently live, which is seeing similar dangerous dysfunction) if so many are so easily duped and brainwashed in to not only listening to and believing the tripe spouted by so many demonstratively bad actors, but actually acting violently on the behalf of their destructive ideologies and, more often, opportunistic grifting.

And many of these people, without irony or introspection, call themselves “free thinkers” and the rest of us “sheep”.

Well said. I know the mods have an impossible job, and I am all for people expressing their views... in fact I've been openly debating a lot of people's views for the last 24 hours in good faith.

I just find it increasingly depressing having to cover off the same badly thought out points repeatedly. The "what-abouts" and the "genuine concerns". It shouldn't be this hard to just condemn something so obviously and fundamentally bad without couching that in some kind of "yeah but". Certain narrative forces in this country have made even the most basic decency and decorum a real challenge.

I think I'm going to be taking a break from here for a bit because, while I'm often pointed in my arguments, I'm not an angry person. But some of the stuff I've seen posted in here over this weekend is a textbook case study in how ordinary people pave the way for those with more sinister intentions by making excuses on their behalf.

All committed by a party that the majority of the people defending this shitshow have spent the past 10 years being champions for and/or apologists for.

Labour get into power and suddenly these are people with legitimate concerns about the broken state the country is in. Six weeks ago, everything was going well and Rishi was doing a great job.
