After graduating and then getting my teaching qualifications I taught in only two FE colleges, one in Lewisham and one in Oldham, both of which often resulted in me being the only white face in a room of around 30 individuals, and I concur completely with you. I loved it and still look back fondly to those times.I would also add after leaving school in a decent area of south Manchester, I went to Openshaw Technical college, I was one of a handful of white guys attending, mainly black, Indian, Pakistani, Iranian, Jewish and Chinese, it was one of the best periods of my life.
I learnt new cultures, music, customs, food etc, made some wonderful friend's and never, EVER felt any issues.
Variety is 100% the spice of life.
