Lets go back just 50 years ago and substitute Muslim for Irish when the IRA were causing carnage across the country.Myra was also born in Crumpsall Hospital. I like to think my birth there helped balance things out!
All your points are fair and cogent.
It doesn’t change the narrative though that an increasingly large number of people feel unhappy/ uncomfortable with Muslims, especially young, male Muslims.
If we had the social media then that we do now, there would be trashing of the local catholic church, Irish club and we'd be shunning our (catholic) Irish neighbours.
In the playground at school, in Manchester, we'd be telling the Gallagher brothers, Johnny Marr, Mike Joyce and Steven Morrissey to fuck off back to where they came from.

With every bad man there's always a bad woman behind him ;-)Thinking about this attack more, one thing that seems to have been overlooked by a lot of people in this thread (and the one from yesterday that was locked) is that the overwhelming driver behind attacks like this might not be religion or culture but gender/sex. While not down religious lines, there's one big parallel between the Southport attack and the Arena bomb: they were both carried out by young men targeting events predominantly attended by women and children (or, in the case of the Ariana gig, gays as well).
Whenever attacks like these are carried out, regardless of the reason, how many of them are carried out by women?
Even the other week, the nutter who killed John Hunt's family - he was ex-Army and definitely didn't suffer from the "cultural problems" alluded to in this thread by the likes of @Worsleyweb et al. But he was a rage-filled man with a sexist grudge and crossbow. Last night, 99% of the rioters, men. The Paris attacks, men. 9/11, men. 7/7, men. The Madrid train bombing, men. The Cumbria and Plymouth shootings, men. Every mass shooting you hear about in America has a male perpetrator. The Presidents threatening nuclear wars, men.
Never mind Muslims, maybe something needs to be done about men. I suggest we shut men out of society until we can figure out what radicalises them and get to the root of the problem. Otherwise it might be best to move us all to the Arctic until things calm down. All the big players who stir up hate in response to the attacks, men. Farage, Yaxley-Lennon, Tate. The person arrested for wielding a knife in Southport near the vigil, a man. What is about men that makes us think a violent destiny is the answer to whatever question we have?
Edit - For the slightly hard of reading among us: the last paragraph is not serious. What I was doing there, as everyone in this thread now understands - just in case there's a Worsleyweb or Halfmist reading this - is I was using an exaggerated form of the rhetoric and implied values of Islamaphobes in order to satirise the rhetoric and implied values of Islamaphobes. And it is a shame to have to type out this addendum to explain that, but hopefully it will save the moderators a long, tedious night of cleaning up this thread when we've all calmed down.

Come on this forum saying Muslims are a problem in England and you'll have certain folk agreeing wholeheartedly, saying we need to kick them out and shut the borders because there's a "cultural problem". However, you come on this forum saying men are a problem, that they're responsible for an overwhelming amount of violent crime, and the same people respond with isolated examples of incredibly rare moments when great acts of evil just happened not to be committed by men.
The same would have happened if you'd put the same question to the rioting scumbags in Southport last night. If this is really a matter of protecting women and girls and nothing else, where were the "protests" when Kyle Clifford slaughtered John Hunt's family? Where were the protests after the Plymouth shootings, the Cumbria shootings, even Raoul Moat? All of them went on rampages and slaughtered innocent women. But where was Stephen Yaxley-Lennon?
Proof that these people aren't actually interested in changing a thing about the world today - they'd rather sit on the sidelines and wait for isolated examples to confirm their biases. No interest in debating the matter on this forum, no interest in dealing with facts or overwhelming evidence, just hell-bent on a racist agenda that's spoon-fed to them by foreign bots on social media and paranoid right-wing grifters taking advantage of their ... well, you know.
For a group of people so intent on delivering "cold hard truths" about the country and world we live in, they sure do enjoy burying their heads in the sand when presented with literally anything that clashes with their worldview.
