I seem to recall the biggest appeaser of that era being a chap called Neville Chamberlain.
Was he a left winger?
Oh, and also those Buckingham Palace appeasers who though Hitler was a lovely chap.
More bloody commies I presume, those Royals.
Just when did the right get the copywright on bravery, because both I and the Russians at Stalingrad must have missed that revisionist rewriting of history?
They really haven't got a fucking clue. The left was fighting Hitler in Spain when most of the right was cheering him on.

You don't need figures mate just common sense. The left leaning voter was more inclined to have workshops, discussions and ensure a suitable work environment prior to a battle whereas the right leaning voter would have said fuck this shit let's get this job done and gone hell for leather at the Hun whereupon they would been mowed down in a hail of bullets. Therefore more left leaning voters returned from the war.
Ah yeah I forgot:

Right Wing = Hero types that win a VC posthumously.
Left Wing = Appeasers that hid in a fox hole crying for mummy.

You probably missed it when you were at the doctors having your humour gland removed.<br /><br />-- Tue Jun 11, 2013 12:08 pm --<br /><br />

Do you have any figures to back that up (the proportion of the vote for returning servicemen).
Much harder to have figures. Election polling was not nearly as scientific then. I've heard it quoted by people I trust including David Denver. However, I have found a source for you: <a class="postlink" href="http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=ky3gSOreBOIC&pg=PA127&lpg=PA127&dq=1945+election+soldiers+voted+labour&source=bl&ots=tcmKdIW0Qy&sig=dxZVGROWf88_QuJRTYVxb-AzLPs&hl=en&sa=X&ei=Vv22UcKoCYmAOLSZgSA&ved=0CEQQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=1945%20election%20soldiers%20voted%20labour&f=false" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=ky3g ... ur&f=false</a>
Thanks for that, bloody interesting read actually.

It wasn't an odd question at all considering you said:
The do-gooders and their inadvertent big business allies

The only way 'do-gooders' are allies of big business, inadvertent or otherwise, is if they would seek to deny a vote on Europe. If the people voted to stay in Europe having had a vote on it, that's the people's decision, not the do-gooder's decision. Or would the people simply metamorphose en-masse into do-gooders if they voted for something you don't agree with it?

OK, in your last two paragraphs, I suppose I can respect your pragmatism in acknowledging transitional halfway houses. I have them too and I respect that you don't really make an issue of it.

It was a very odd question considering we were talking about unemployment. You must have seen that when you went back to grab the quote...

Do-gooders are allies of big business all the time.
