I wouldn't wish it upon him - he'll be crucified by the media at the first sign of things going wrong, purely on the grounds that he isn't Harry Redknapp.

Interesting though that they haven't approached Redknapp; even the FA have sussed him!

That's what I thought too; the media won't like it that they will be seen to have got it wrong this time.

However, I'm delighted. Much better choice than the one I was expecting.

I agree - I do think he'll be an excellent choice. Much more astute and canny thank Redknapp, and he did very well with Switzerland. And he seems to be a genuinely decent man.

But I do worry a bit for him though - just look at how the Liverpool job seemed to age him over a few months. He always seems more distant from the press, and Woolnough, Beasley et al will be dripping poison soon enough.

Yes, I do wonder how he will cope with the media interest/attention/venom.

But let's just hope he shuts them up with solid performances early doors.

WOW! This is bad news i was really hoping for harry. I can only think that the FA are lying and that they did approach harry but he turned it down. Alan Pardew should have been second choice. Brian McDermott should have been ahead of Hodgson.

Fuck the media, they only have power to force their own agenda's due to gullable fools who buy their papers.

If everyone speaks with their wallet the big mouthed slimy arseholes will crawl back to their cave soon enough.

Great stuff.

Fuck Redknapp. Fuck the media. Fuck the little Englanders.

Roy's managed and coached abroad, but knows the English game. He's got top level experience in abundance, which is far more valuable than anything Twitchy bollocks has done (one trophy), so for me it's perfect.

Oh, and according to SSN, Harry "masterminded" a victory over Blackburn.

Masterminded? Really?

"its only harry for me" tweeted by wayne rooney a couple of months ago

He'll be fine with the pressure, hes managed inter milan so he has already had a grounding in the interest/attention.

Hodgson would obviously be about a million times better England manager than Redknapp.

As a Spurs fan though I desperately hope it isn't true.

Great news. Roy is a much better option, IMHO.

I heard some journo a few weeks ago on talkshite saying that while Roy is the better tactician, Redneck is the better man-manager and that is the most important quality at international level.

Surely it is the other way around?

When you're only with the players for a few days at a time, it is vital that you get your tactics spot-on and man-management is secondary, IMHO.

But but but he took you from bottom of the league to challenging for the title playing the best football in the world.

Great news if he gets the job. Twice the manager, far far far less than half the twat.

Why would you want Redknapp to leave for England? He's taken you in to the Champions League etc. Spurs gave us our best game at home this season. Your stance is something I don't understand.

At least Micah will get a look in now!! We all know who would have played under twitcher!! Kyle walker.......young player of the year!! PMSL!

Phil Neal has just pronounced that the Liverpool job was "too big" for for Hodgson.

Is there any limit to these deluded fools that are associated with that club? Like some ageing actress whose roles have dried up, who still thinks she's the hottest ticket in town.

My desire to see them fail increases with every passing week.
