To think that just 1 week ago we were told that it was "a no brainier" that the manager of a combined Manchester 11 had to be Mourinho...

Hahahahahahahahaha

Did he not get to play in his preferred midfield 3 last night? And against lesser opposition? And still went missing?

M.E.N said today to make him good they need to sign Modric. Right, ok. Surely for that money you shouldn't really need a world class player to make you good.

Have to agree with @Neville Kneville, Jose in his post match press conference had a very familiar look, dreadful body language, nothing is his fault.
Very similar to his behaviour at Chelsea last season, a defeat at Watford could see him in full meltdown mode - something I'm sure nobody would want to see!!

Love it that they have begun to lower their expectations with 'give him time', 'he made 8 changes what do you expect', 'Pogba excels in a midfield 3', 'we're just 5 games in'.

The supporters are blaming the manager, the manager is throwing players and the team under the bus, the players are unhappy with each other on the field, the supporters are paying to see the tripe tactics, everything is crumbling down. And to top it all off the owners are milking the brand dry that transfer decisions are based on marketable faces instead of intelligent feet.

Jamie Carragher

made a really good point on Monday night football. He just cannot play in a 2 man midfield. At Juventus in a 3 man midfield he could roam and do whatever he wanted but you cant do that with just A&E as your partner. He did do that in the first half against us and we ruthlessly exposed the gaps in midfield. PEG either has to rein him in or play with a 3 man midfield. 3 man midfield means he has to drop Rooney
He WILL drop Rooney.

That was my thinking Re the 3 man midfield

scholes mentioned this after the game, he needs a pirlo or a modric or a kroos to play with him so he can play his proper position further up the field. Kroos and modric are getable he says. So im guessing we may see another splurge of cash in january or next summer then. another £80 mil signing to make the £100 mil signing look like a proper £100 mil signing.

If the start of this season is anything to go by, they need to have a cold, hard look at their transfer policy. The Dia Maria cash splash didn't work; the Marial deal looks like it might go the same way and whilst Pogba is a very good player and will improve for them, £89 mill is pure folly. Which is why no one else was interested at that price.

Jose threw his players under the bus after the derby. Made changes last night, lost, threw his new players under the bus, and is going back to the original set of players he threw under the bus to correct things at weekend.

Just wonderful

It's his last year at Chelsea all over again if he isn't careful and I'm not sure he can stop himself any longer.

His success came at a time when virtually every side Chelsea played where scared shitless of them and just didn't want to get beat heavily. His defensive tactics and better players invariably won him the games. Ferguson benefitted exactly the same way for years then the PL changed. Teams are no longer scared shitless and they have a real go. Ferguson could no longer cope and Jose is the same.

Dinosaurs the pair of them

omg today feels like a we won last night day. there are some panicking reds out there.

Maurinho was Utds last punt at success, It is looking like Maurinho doesnt know what he is doing and things are falling apart around him. Pogba looks to be a waste of millions, Ibrahimovic is just being used as a big man up front, even Rashford seems to be affected by what's happening. this feels like it could be the end of Utd which is a shame because I was looking fw to the clashes between city and utd

I, like most people, expected Mourinho's tenure at the Swamp to end in tears, but it seems it will happen a season earlier than thought. He really has looked a shadow of his former self since taking over at the Rags... he looks clinically depressed - don't think i've seen him smile once!

Its early days regarding Moaninho but if he has his melt down 2 seasons earlier Edwood will be under pressure seeing he is the one who pushed Lvg out the door and brought Moaninho in just because of who we have.

He reminds me of Donald Trump. Can't seem to keep his shit together for more than ten minutes at a time.

I'll always believe it was the Glazers who wanted Mourhino and Pogba at thr rags. They're panicking now and throwing money about like madmen.

The point about having to drop rooney to get the best put of pogba is right I think.and another slither of evidence for those who doubt rooney is contractually bound to play,if fit.there is no other reason for the last 4 utd managers to select him for virtually every top class game over the last few years.notice how Jose had nothing bad to say about rooney after the Derby. It was others he slagged off/took off...notice van gal claiming he had a nasty ankle injury when out for his two week club ban.I reckon utd and the chief sponsors have a contract clause which over- rides any personal opinion that any utd manager will have on rooney,s ability to play...

It seems far fetched, but there was an awful lot of panicked negotiations taking place behind the scenes when rooney put in his transfer request those few years ago, when he was still arguably one of the best players in the premiership, altho already on the downward slope.......its quite clear that since the day he signed an extension the man has been virtually untouchable for utd and England. There must be a wonderful, contractual, fiscal advantage in the players favour should he ever be demoted to the bench in a top class fixture.
His agent pulled off an incredible deal, and slur Alex and Gill are fully culpable.

Not to mention Woodie's pr release last season that the rags never wanted Guardiola and were never in for him.
