Why wouldn't they be giddy. If they beat us, which is quite possible, they could replace us in the top 4. It's the same attitude regarding Arsenal on Sunday. We could quite easily loose both games.

There's a difference between being confident and cocky and most of them are back to their cocky/giddy selves. We're a better team, they have to play us at ours and they need to win so the advantage is still with us big time.

Another factor, often overlooked, is the effect the corruption must have on the psychology of the players. The rags can play safe in the knowledge that;

a) they can "tackle" with impunity no matter how dirty they are. We get booked for the first tackle meaning that we can't put in a challenge particularly anywhere near the box and the player is walking a tightrope for the rest of the game.

b) their forwards can gamble on being right on the shoulder of the last defender knowing that they are going to get the benefit of any doubt. Ours need to be at least a yard of clear daylight from the last defender not to be adjudged offside.

c) Their defenders can step up knowing that they will get the benefit of the doubt. Ours know the opposition attacker needs to be at least a yard offside and, even then, there is a good chance it won't be given. This breeds indecision.

The list actually goes on and on and the more "grey areas" there are, the more the benefit of such "doubt" as there may be goes to the rags.

I'm not surprised out players exploded in rage at the Chelsea game. It must be so frustrating but, correspondingly, what a sense of confidence must come from the certain knowledge that the refs are on your side.

After Aurier from PSG according to L'Equipe. Fee around €20m. Decent player but loads of disciplinary issues. Can't see that ending well.

Disciplinary issues? He'll be a shoo-in at The Swamp. Don't forget that there is a quite separate FArce disciplinary procedure for anyone clad in scarlet. We'll no doubt hear all the regurgitated shite about 'taking the passion out of his game'!
