United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Lack of passion and fight was disappointing. Happy to not concede but we gave them opportunities. Really poor and I refuse to believe that's the best we can do against a poor & limited side.

Newcastle is gonna finish top 5. So we need to xhase down Chelsea and NF to be safe. This wasn't a good result :(
Only positives from this game are the results from all the teams around us keep the top 5 race competitive.

Im not sure what else Pep can do with the players he has......who on the bench besides Nico Gonzales makes that much difference....You could argue Khusonov makes us better at the back but what about going forward? Sav and Doku dont set the world alight when they play - they certainly dont score many

Who else besides Rodri and Haaland change that game today?

He is just far too cautious mate.

They'll go on about being the better team, but we gifted then so many chances and they still couldn't score.
Forest would've smashed them today.

The mighty man u scared to cross their own halfway line at home. Bus parkers FC, worst rags side in a generation and yet we played with the handbrake on all game.

I know we're not at our best and no Akanji, Ake, Stones, Rodri and Haaland is a big reason for that (no mention from Sky unsurprisingly), but we had enough talent out there to take the game to them and to not even bring Savinho on is baffling to be honest.

Hopefully it's a point on the way to champions league football, but that was painful to watch.

Pep is just as poor this season as most of the players. He's too sentimental about players that were incredible during the last couple of years but that are shit now. Maybe we are too sentimental about Pep as well. Of course we'll never have a better coach than him, but we and the club shouldn't be ignoring that he's having a terrible season and there's been almost zero progress even with a huge January transfer window.

Went to the worst United side ever to not lose after losing against them at home. Actively tried to give them the game in the last 15 minutes with the subs.

Not been this pissed with the manager since Porto. This was a disgrace of a showing

Bernardo, Nunes and Ederson were superb. Dias and Gvardiol both very good too. Rest I wouldn't have noticed had they snuck off at any point in the game for a massive dump and not come back.

I said pre-match id take a draw having anticipated that kind of game so i'll take the point but the performance was pathetic from us. not the players fault though that is entirely on the Pep. the lineup and gameplan was woeful once again.

We all could have predicted exactly how that would play out before kick off, the only surprise is they didn't take one of their chances and sneak a win. Infact i predicted exactly that game minus the united breakaway goal days ago and i bet many others did too so why didnt pep see that panning out like that too?

Lost all control of the game when gundo went off and its sheer inconpetence from them thats got us away from the crumbling swamp with a point. We're certainly the happier team with the result based on performance.

United haven't kept a clean sheet at old Trafford in over 4 months until today, yet we didn't ever look like troubling them. Abysmal football and I don't think Pep is going to change it next season either.

The players aren't the problem here, the tactics are.

Only managed to watch from about 60 minutes onwards as was driving back from family, but thank goodness I only managed half an hour of that dross.

Difficult to work out which team was worse.

I don’t like Gary Chuckle but he was absolutely right on commentary about there needing to be “more blood, thunder and risk” in a Manchester derby. That was like watching a bunch of school friends having a knock-about in the park and then afterwards having a chat about which pub they were all going to.

We are such a hard watch, boring football all the time this season. A shit rag side won't have had an easier game all season defensively anyway, we were impotent with a capital I
This United team were outplayed by Southampton for 80 minutes.

That's a Southampton team lining up to be the worst team in premier league history.

You can't tell me Doku, Savinho, Grealish, and Nico Gonzalez are worse options than Bernardo, De Bruyne, Kovacic, and Gundogan.

And yet he keeps picking the latter four over the younger lads. Why? We spent £200m in January and three of them didn't even get on.

Tbh mate if the 'issues' amount to one shit season I think we can still happy clap.

This 1 season thing is a total myth, yes we won the title last season but fuck me the writing was on the wall with us just getting over the line, a lot of these performances are the same and we've done jack shit about how we play. Same slow, boring possession football for the sake of it, teams are much much wiser to it now unfortunately for us.

Embarrassing from pep not the players!
You couldn't be more wrong! The players today were dreadful bar Marmoush and maybe Eddie.

I'm sorry, but these are supposed to be extremely high quality, professional footballers. If they are clueless unless Pep tells them how to breath in and breath out then why on earth are they on MILLIONS a year!???

The players need to take responsibility here. Is Pep making them play atrociously? Of course he isn't. It's not like he's playing Marmoush as a centre half is it? I know we have Nunes at right back but he's actually the best option we have right now. That should tell you what Pep has to play with at the moment.

Pep has spearheaded more trophy wins over the last few years than we could ever have dreamed of. Now, because the players have gone to shit/are too old - it's all on Pep??? Behave man!

It is what it is. Both teams are mid table quality and probably will be next season.
Personally i think Pep has zero answers as the game has caught up with him and ie is largely responsible for the complete shambles we find ourselves in. I cannot see him turning it around.
We look awful, dull boring tactics that no longer work, look like there is zero coaching done, no player has improved in the last 18 months where he used to bring players on in their game. Our conditioning/medical team cannot keep us fit, less said about the set pieces coach the better, we cannot shoot and our defending remains unimpressive and attavking even worse.
We have been horrid in the market, bought wingers who offer fuck all, Doku can leave as no improvement since he arrived, zero creativity in midfield, no pace and yet in January we spent 200 million inc 60 million on another slow but good player who cannot get in the this pathetic midfield.

We went into the season with 1 striker which is shambolic, no cover for Rodri and an aging squad got older with bringing back an even older player.

Teams like Villa have deeper and better squads than us now and you wouldnt put a bet on us beating anyone with the current setup.
A keeper who doesn’t want to be here, no proper full backs, 1 striker only who is out injured and no goals at all throughout the squad, it took a howler v Leicester fir us to score and never looked like it today either.
Be a miracle if this squad with the team and tactics he is chosing gets into the CL
