United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I’ll get pelters but fuck it pep and this style of football is finished, no team fear us anymore and pep’s inability or stubbornness to change things and his insistance in playing the old guard has pushed us into decline. I get the idea of Kev’s last swansong derby but everyone can see he’s been done for 18 months. Kova and gundo in midfield is a disaster waiting to happen. And what has happened to Phil foden.
I think it’s time for a change of manager and new ideas, I’ll always be thankful for how brilliant he’s been and the trophy’s he’s given us but like half the team I think he’s done.
That rag side with a decent striker we could have lost 3-0 and they are bang average.
Hoping we can consolidate a chumps league place and prey whoever’s at the helm get the summer signings bang on otherwise get used to being a top 6 side.

That was shit. Again. Kovacic, Gundogan, KDB and Bernardo, we’ve seen it all season and it’s not getting any prettier. These players are past their prime, it’s just sad to watch us play these days.

Play the promising young DM, try Foden at 8, Grealish at 10. Play with your young attacking wide players. Have a go at a poor United team. Try something a bit different.

But no, Pep continues to pick his favourites, another piss poor performance ticks by, and this shit season fizzles out with another masterclass in mediocrity.

Onto the next one…

All on Pep again that…. Again!

Everyone single person could see how poor that midfield was before the game.

Pep is purely picking now on favouritism and not form or ability. Grealish played superb midweek and was dropped today. Not for the first time either, the exact same thing happened after Forrest at home.

The old boys have played well together twice all season, yet because Pep likes them as people, he’s picking them.
Is it on Pep that most of the team couldn't' string together 2 passes or couldn't win many 50/50 challenges?

Pointless possession, sideways backwards, sideways. If you saw the Villa v Forest game last night, packed with excellent attacking play, that was like watching a different sport. I'm seriously worried about Pep. Why was Nico benched, why was Bernardo chosen over Savinho. Why chose a midfield devoid of any speed, any intensity. Dias and Josko looked OK and Nunes was reasonable, but seriously if we don't get two specialist full backs in the summer....

Look at Peps body language. When we are on it or "are there " as he calls it then he perks up. But when that's not the case he retreats into himself. In those moments I get the feeling he would like to be somewhere else. I could be wrong.
He probably needs a ride and to stop over analysing everything…

I found him frustrating when we had those early league and CL battle with the dippers and he’d literally lose his fucking mind and spit his dummy out every game which would conspire to see us lose…..

Peps not perfect but he needs someone to take the pressure off him or at least someone to tell him it’s ok …take a break, come back when your right..

went to the pub before the game , bit pissed then got back and had sex with my girlfriend rather than watch that

from the match report sounds a bit like the 0-0 in winter 2010 at their place when we played a defensive team?
No way you had sex.

The bottom line is the whole midfield (Kev, Gundog, Bernardo, Kovacic) won’t be here next season. All too old and have all lost their ability to effect top level games and make defensive recovery runs.

We also have no full backs. To have O’Reilly and Nunes as full backs in a PL game is fucking diabolical.

6 top signings needed to get back to anywhere like.

that was garbage

but it shows how much they have fallen playing a back 7/8 at home

also, was it me but the ball seemed to be rolling slowly stopping a free flowing game

Poor performance against the 14th placed team and us apparently vying for a champions league spot.
We looked slow and devoid of inspiration, we could have played until this time next week and still not scored, they probably would have done though.
Not entirely sure what our tactics were other than pass side to side in some forlorn hope they might fall asleep, it was only those watching that fell into a soporific slumber.
A performance and result that shows how far we have fallen really.

What did you do for the other 89 minutes?

There’s no doubt in my mind that these performances are exacerbated by our previous high standards.

Yet, we just don’t seem to have any sort of attacking intent or plan. We used to love the underlapping run to the byline but even that’s dried up.

It’s risk free football against sides who are intent to turn up for a draw and make no mistakes.
Disagree, there doesn’t seem to be a tactical plan to most games this season. If planning for the future is relying on those players who are on there way out at the end of season we are n trouble.

Just the bit pissed bit

Its not going to be one shit season. Wake up
We've no idea how next season will pan out.
This 1 season thing is a total myth, yes we won the title last season but fuck me the writing was on the wall with us just getting over the line, a lot of these performances are the same and we've done jack shit about how we play. Same slow, boring possession football for the sake of it, teams are much much wiser to it now unfortunately for us.
Agree we were running on fumes last season, but we won the title so if that's a shit season for you then I think we have different expectations.

For me we write this season off in the hope it’s a one off.
If we’re just as bad next season the club have some difficult decisions.

I’m finding it hard to remember a derby with less passion and fight though.
