United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Partly agree we need fullbacks buy them from Newcastle Hall and Livramento. But we also need attacking players since we bought the wrong ones, Savinho and Marmoush seems to be wrong buys. Se we need to replace them. Bobb hasent got the goals in him either.

But we need an overhaul on the defending side there I agree with you.
We had a fullback on the bench. But Pep preferred Ake.

Why are people scapegoating Foden? He was subbed off at halftime and we were worse in the second half.

Because he's not contributing

We were slightly better second half as soon as he was off. We were already in a rut so we couldn't fully get going but we looked better going forward because Cherki actually intelligently moves into space and creates space for others

Phil mostly operates in a 5 yard area and then just plays hot potato with the ball and gets rid to the closest man unless he has plenty of space to turn

Hopefully we do well in the cups and get at least something this year

Sadly not the Prem
Said in the ‘will we win the league’ thread our only job now is to stop them cunts winning the lot.
I’m not convinced we can after today’s ‘performance’.

The one thing a team needs above anything else to win a title is, drive, determination and serious bollocks.

These attributes do not exist amongst this group.

That’s before we get onto the individual abilities.

Lewis playing at club that has spent the money we have is a joke, the midfield balance is all wrong, and again, Haaland can do what he wants because he has no real competition.

The players know they aren’t good enough, we do, the whole club can sense it.

It’s been a decent window (hope the apathy doesn’t infiltrate Semenyo and Geuhi) but we are going to need another couple of excellent windows to pull this around.

We also need to let all of the “nearly” men in the squad go as well.
Apart from that are you ok?
You seem a bit down.

Hahaha, just spoke to my brother who is seething about our performance. He could hardly get his words out quick enough. Almost the end of the conversation he says “hang on a minute, it says 2-0 here”. I replied, “yes, the last one was chalked off for offside”. I went on to tell him about that Utd fan holding three fingers up to our fans and how he’d have to shove ‘em where the sun doesn’t shine.
Honestly, it was was almost like we’d won at the end of the call:)

We were insipidly shite. Never looked like we were interested in competing physically and it’s very rare that we produce a performance as bad as that.

Ake and Lewis lack the dynamism, pace and physicality to play in anything other than weaker teams at home.

Fuck knows why Erl looked pissed off at getting hooked, he did nothing again.

We need Nunes, Guéhi, Gonzalez back in quickly to have a bit of pace and physicality in there.

It now depends on what the Arsenal do later - win and we’ve likely got no chance for the league.

Might be a blessing in some ways - regroup and focus on the three cups and CL qualification.

I thought the 1st half was a bit like the Newcastle game, and we would change tactics slightly in the 2nd, like put some crosses in and maybe the odd through ball for haaland. Well we did when he went off.
I thought we looked tired and off the pace for much of the game.
Ah well, we should dust ourselves down and male sure we're ready for the next game.

Pep clapping an empty away end hope he realises that was a complete disaster and what a wank starting xl
Never mind clapping them…he should be paying for their tickets and day out. He’s always very quick to call the fans when we are shit because of his tactics and coaching…sick of it.

Edit: in fact he should be apologising for the absolute fucking dogs dinner he made of that today….dont hold your breath though because it won’t happen.

Usually after such defeats I’d come on and try and look at the realistic situation and try and look forward. I’d try to tell folk to stop being so spoilt and support the team through the tough times. That was really worrying though. No fight, no composure, and terrible, terrible tactics and team selection.
1. We are really really boring to watch and ineffective against anyone decent. We haven’t got the players to play Pep’s way anymore. We have got two brilliant, explosive wingers who are told to turn back in all the time. It’s just a waste of talent. I love Pep to death and this season is a big improvement to last season, but unless he adapts soon I think it might be time. We’ve a really good squad now. If we don’t win something and show signs that we could compete for next seasons title then, as Pep has always said, results should mean that it’s time to move on. Our current tactics are killing our front three. And on that note….
2. The elephant in the room. Haaland. What the fuck is up with the bloke? Yes the tactics aren’t helping him at all, but he’s a disgrace at the moment. No fight, no movement and smiling and joking with United defenders during a match like this. Just standing and waiting in the middle, blocking off any fluid movement by others (Phil,Cherki) is not good enough. Either him or Pep need to sort it out quickly. My view is that - if Pep won’t change his tactics, which he won’t - he should be dropped and we need to go back to a false 9. Foden, Cherki or Reijeinders can fill those two false 9 spots. It’s never going to happen as it seems he’s bigger than the club, but he’s killing us at the moment.
Just thoughts and only writing them here so I can get it off my chest. Not that anyone is in the slightest interested haha, nor should they be. I’m sure we’ll have thousands of other perfectly brilliant/terrible takes on it

We struggled today because the team is bare bones and obviously fatigued, and that's down to referee's allowing teams to kick fuck out of us with absolute impunity, every fucking game. What we are seeing in my opinion another incarnation of Scudamore's 'strategic' plan to put a new name on the trophy every few seasons manipulate the outcome of the competition. We all saw it with Leicester's 'fairy tale' season.

Dalot should have been sent off, if not by Alty, by VAR. As obvious a red card as it gets. That was the PiGMOL and the PL 'protecting the product' by stopping City at all costs. Expect more than a few very strange decisions and results over the coming months. The PL is not now and never has been a level playing field, and anyone who thinks it is is kidding themselves.

Not the first time this season or last it’s clear a few of our players lack a bit of heart. Seen this happen a few times away from home, and unless we turn the game into a glorified training session we get outfought, fail to match the other sides intensity.

Rico Lewis will receive a lot of the criticism but there are much bigger names, big signings, on a lot more money who just don’t show up. Pretty shameful as showing a bit of character, trying to win your individual duels, running back, challenging for the ball is the least to be expected.

I don’t think rags are shit. They had a manager who wouldn’t adapt his system. They’ve got a good squad who all turned up at home today playing a system that suits them against a very weakened team.
not that weakened.....just weakened in one area that should have been strengthened over the summer but was ignored. ......

the rags have been the butt of jokes all season at how shit they are....they werent even good today...they just outmaned us in midfield cause we had Rodri effectively on his own in there. as the centre haves and full back werent supporting him as usual

we now dont have the quality of players to play the way Pep wants to either btw.....rico lewis is just shit....khusonov as much as like him isnt great with passing through lines, Ake is finished as I said 6 months ago (along with Stones).....Alleyne had jelly legs and possibly is the ONLY player that gets a pass for that performance.

Semenyo cant be excused cause he is new either....that was a pathetic performance by him....he was lazy, had zero drive and aggression....doku gets shit but he never ever shies away from at least trying....we can already see that the same cannt be said of Semenyo as he gave up on a number of occasions and that is unacceptable.

They won't need telling that, as good a result as it was, it won't mean a thing if they don't get a top four place in May ..... they have no excuses because they aren't playing as many games as other teams.

He has a pretty good record against good sides, so that's bollocks.

We need to start dropping players who stifle our attacks, like Phil

Wank over him all you want. He was absolutely shite yet again today. Technique wise there's better players in the Championship.
