United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

After the starting line-up was confirmed I knew it wasn't going to be our day.

Honestly the back 4 of Wolves is better than what we had yesterday. Khusanov & Alleyne had a tough day i felt sorry for them as Ake & Lewis were completely fucking useless.

Honestly only Khusanov & Donnarumma could hold their heads up from yesterday. Foden & Haaland absolutely wank both need some bench time wouldn't even let them travel to Bodo.

Midfield was completely over ran the rat had a field day. Worst I've seen us play in a long time.

Won't even talk about the red card ffs.

Hopefully it's a wake up call to all of them.

Relevance of the statistic ?
The poster I replied to - or one further up the line, from memory - was saying how Pep has never 'got' the derby.

I just agreed. I haven't researched it, but I bet there isn't another team with United's modest level of success over the same period that even comes close to that record against City.

That's what makes it stand out, I suppose. No more than a talking point.

Most inaccurate bollocks I have read on here for quite a while
It’s opinion, a bit like saying my favourite colour is whatever. I haven’t said for example the moon is made of cream cheese, which is objectively nonsense. You can have your opinion which may be that the Earth is flat, which is objectively bollox or you can say Foden is earning £300k per week and has not been stealing a living for nearly two years, which is a subjective view.

With 5 subs now allowed the manager should be able to bring on 'specialists' to manage each phase of the game. What we seem to lack is 'specialists' who are capable of 'getting us a point' or 'protecting a lead' when we are not dominant. Yesterday, we were never going to score in a month of Sundays but could quite easily have gotten a point by locking the game down. We lacked those options on the bench which is probably down to squad depth and balance. Pep seems to favour a small squad, which works if only in one competition or if injuries are non existent but not for our current situation. It is also bizarre that the three centre backs who were out on loan are all fit and playing Akanji, Reiss and Alleyne and the ones here mostly crocked.
Wanting a small squad when we probably expect to play the most games is bizarre.

If we go all the way in the cups and CL - plus our league games, that's 60 odd games a season. Not including international games.

If you think Foden is one of the immediate problems in the suad then you know nothing of football and Id wager your opinion is based on something personal you dont like about him

I can name a number of players within the squad who are holding the team back in terms of their ability and not one of them is foden...

Sav
Bobb
Rico Lewis
Reijnders being inaffective - please dont quote his goals - even in those games he has been a ghost for 95% of the time
John Stones - due to injury history
Nathan Ake - due to injury history
No right back
No left back having been available
No fit first choice centre halves
Haaland being our only forward and run into the ground
Rodri not being fit for most of the season and still struggling.

All of this (or these) are much more considerable issues before Foden's form

Its like the people who blame Bernardo Silva - they know very little about football
Foden is a useful squad member but not fit to lace KDBs boots. Yet he earns what KDB was earning. He doesn’t deserve a place in the starting line up based on current form. Your long list points to club management and in particular Pep. Personally I think he should have gone at the end of the 2024 season, to some like this pointing out Foden has been a passenger for most of the last two years or Silva is past it, is like heresy.

His distinct lack of effort in the matches he has played, backing out of challenges or not even attempting to challenge half arsed recovery runs...even yesterday he received the ball roughly centre pitch....no one near him and he literally just hoofed it high up the centre of the pitch to no one....like something you would see in a kids Sunday league match....or some over weight 50 year old doing on the local rec....
Like you say he has hardly been on the pitch for us but in the small time he has this has really stuck out like a sore thumb

Not noticed, but will keep an eye out for it. Was probably busy swearing at too many other things yesterday to notice.

not a fan of ake and rico has his off days

We we're shite in all departments bar the Don n Khush. Doku n Ake let simple balls roll into touch early doors n Foden looked like his interest was elsewhere, which is strange for a City Manc in a derby. Haaland got bullied by a dwarf, who he tossed aside previously and we didnt attack both their full backs on yellows. Rico Lewis shud never have started a game too big for him.

None of it adds up n I cant explain why we were so spineless ??
When those balls went out of play early on from Ake and Doku simple control is all that was needed, and when slabhead headed against the bar, the afternoon was well and truly set. I can't remember a worse all round performance, some on a par but none worse under Pep's tenure

I've been going over in my head if I can remember a loss like this and the closest one I can come to is the 21 CL final.

Dalot/ Rudigers red card not given in both.

I was in a proper bad mood and had PTSD on that CL final for like 3-4 months till we won away at Chelsea..

Infact it was so bad.. my wife made me take her on a vacation so we would not watch the end of the PL season at home.. so I saw the Villa comeback on a beach in Thailand.

My point being.. if anyone is in a proper bad mood.. don't be afraid to just prioritze yourself and get away from it all.. and yes it was a shite game!

Thing is pep goes new manager comes in and we in this position in the league in all competitions what will opinion be then of that scenario? Good or bad

Bring it on, I say. I've been through enough managers at City to always look at any new appointment in a positive manner.
Change is good for fans. The downs can be as much fun as the ups. Whatever happens, we go with it - there's no alternative other than support another club. Unthinkable!
If the new boss is no good, just hope that the next one will be. It's nice to follow a winning team, but at the end of the day, it's only a game.

The biggest concern for City when Pep leaves will be retaining as many 'Pep fans' as possible. Whether it be match attendees or internet followers. There are no doubt many thousands who are City followers simply because Pep is the boss.
Remember the Bosnian Diamond followers on here? They disappeared overnight when Edin left. It will be hundreds of times worse on here when Pep leaves - Imagine the i.pact on the club's social media!

That's what the Board will worry about. Pep attracts players, sponsors, investors...

I'm sick of this excuse. We know player's aren't robots but they are supremely fit athletes with the best of everything. Nutrition, conditioners, physios, pitches, everything. They also had three days rest before this game. Fucking man up.

You sound like a ‘real’ expert so if Oep went are you do enlightened to suggest a replacement that could even lace Peps boots? I doubt that very much actually - we have the best there is currently

In hindsight, and with a bit of time to think about it. I think City got caught cold yesterday. Rags are in freefall, knocked out of all the cups, manager sacked, players coming back from injuries. Don't think Slabhead has started a game since October. Couldn't even beat Wolves at home.

I think City came into that game thinking it was going to be a walk in the park. And if that game was played 2 weeks ago, it probably would have been an easy win, even with that line up. There was more than enough top class players on that pitch to give them something to worry about.

Somehow, Carrick managed to get the right players into the right positions, with the right tactics. Add to that the effort in closing down and shutting out passing lanes, and constantly playing it forward, which really exposed the high line that Pep refused to change from. People going in on Rico Lewis and Ake. It wasn't their fault that the midfield was out battled by an OAP and someone who hasn't started a game this season, or that the forward line couldn't trap a beach ball with a fishing net. Or that the wingers didn't run at anyone, and turned back every single time. Cherki's weak attempt to stop Mbeuno having a clear run at goal had nowt to do with the back line. Out of all of those players, new and old, only Donna and Khusanov could walk off that pitch with their heads held high.

Foden didn't play well last season bit neither did the rest of the team l. Fodens gorm has been patchy this season...so has tge teams

Your solution based on the above is to get rid of the best manager in world football ( and replace him with who btw?) and to bench one of the most technically gifted players we have!!! Unbelievable...all of this while criticising the capt of the club who is one of the very few who shows any fight week in and out....is gectge player he was...no...but he is leaving this summer and he still leaves everything on the pitch for the club

Name any player we can get that is fit to lace KDBs boots? Go on! There were probably Chelsea fans on their forums like you calling him shitvwhen he was there....that's your level
