United (A) Post Match Thread

He doesn't really criticise the team because that would be a criticism of himself. But that's normal for any manager. Would we have been happy if we had lost that ? We are not unhappy this morning after that draw. Pep isn't going to be out manoeuvred like he was last season. Top 4 will do and if we get a player or two when the window opens up then who knows what will happen. 78 possible points to play for. Theres no outstanding team setting the world on fire . Its an odd situation due in the main to Covid . The football is boring in general. Steady on blues.

Your last sentence is the nail on the head , Aguero has been brilliant for our club but he cant stay fit , if your main striker is missing 20 games a season we have got a big problem , Jesus is a tryer and a poacher but his all round contribution to the team sadly isnt good enough, would normally say give him time but clubs, managers and players dont get time anymore , instant success are the watch words.
In January i would go all in for Haaland , ive watched him a few times and he is a hungry bastard at the right age , and finishes chances for fun.
Jesus was heavily involved in creating our 2 best chances. Shame Mahrez and De Bruyne couldn't take them.

Horrific performance. I mean, that was as bad as I've seen us play in a long long time. Yes paying dinho and rodri was a terrible idea, and yes, leaving Phil and Bernardo on the bench was a terrible waste, but the players who were picked (bar a couple of defenders) were, by and large, woeful. There's no sparkling the turd in shiny things like "a point at OT is a good point". It was awful. Who's to blame? Everyone involved. Close the thread and forget it ever happened.

...... a game played in slow motion, a real borefest.

10 minutes after I started typing and a good nights sleep, that's the best I can come up with.

He didn't give the penalty straight way. Had the whisper in his ear a moment later.
I noticed that. His immediate response was to wave it away and actually turned to follow the play. Then, with some form of intervention, he turns back and gives it.

How many times have we seen this happen to us now? Taylor springs to mind on a couple of occasions.

This is what happens when the broadcasters only requirement is for certain teams to be winning games and, by hook or by crook, they are allowed to manipulate games to suit their own end.

So who does he thread these passes though to if the others aren’t there? Does he pass through the eye of a needle and get on the end of it himself

He is not firing on all cylinders but he is definitely not the problem.

Sterling, Mahrez, Bernando, Jesus all need to pull their finger out of their arse. I have been kind to the younger players but they need to do more too. The forward play bar one game against our usual whipping boys has been average and that’s being kind. 3 goals away in 5 games is pathetic for a side with our quality.

People moan about Sterling and Jesus yet most of yesterday when they received the ball they had at least 2 or 3 defender around them. Most of the time at least 1 defender would be pushing into to them or holding them. I turn to my lad and said if that was a liverpool or utd player than it would be a free kick to them. To many defenders are allowed to foul Sterling and Jesus they get no protection from the ref. I think if Sterling and Jesus made more of it ( like screaming, which I personally wouldn't like to see but ! )they might get free kicks but they dont. Than Citys fans than turn on them saying they played shit !. When in facted if the ref did his job and stopped them being fouled they might be able to play better.

In fact I think leading up to the off-side penalty as our attack broke down, Sterling started to run back only for (I think it was ) Fred to trip him up. Nothing was said and i was hoping play would be brought back for the trip on Sterling. Watch it again Sterling is clearly tripped by Fred in the build up to that attack.

Also, "That would have been one of the greatest premier league goals" when United strung 10 passes together and then failed to get a shot off might be Peak Martin Tyler.

I heard that and just shouted " oh fuck off Tyler you fucking twat "

Especially the egg chasers but also hockey and supposedly non contact sports like basketball let alone the lunacy of Aussie Rules lacrosse etc.
I've never understood why refs never learn from other sports how much 'contact' is needed to Impede another athlete let alone knock him over.
Its just struck me that l dont think the womens game suffers from this diving and shouting in pain. They dont seem to need to grow a pair;)
Talking of which, big game coming up today vs arsenal

So who does he thread these passes though to if the others aren’t there? Does he pass through the eye of a needle and get on the end of it himself
His passing is exceptional if he has time on the ball. It's the physical aspects of his game that have dipped thus when he has to motor to get to a pass, rebound his final shot or crucial final ball is off. He's still good but not as good as he was and this is part of the dip in our offensive game.

Is Pep really happy with that performance, I've never actually heard him criticise any of our performances no matter how bad they've been. Maybe the players do need a kick up the arse from time to time, talk about being on easy street.

I don't believe that Pep is going to criticise a player in public so if that is what you are asking for, I think you will always be disappointed.

Pretty sure he lets them know when he thinks they need it.

For me Ilkay is the best 6 at the club, we need to stop worrying about stopping goals as in my opinion we’ve got the best defence since Vinnie Lescott Clichy/Kolarov and Zaba. We aren’t creating chances like we used to, take Kev out our team and we’re a mid table side
Lol, we are a mid table side, with Kev in it! 9th
