United (A) | Post Match Thread

I am still livid.. for the life of me I can’t see how anyone can legitimately say Rashford did not completely interfere with play from on an offside position.. it is cheating and the whole world witnessed it.. We should issue a club statement aimed at the referee and FA asking for an explanation as to why it was allowed to stand. And keep pushing until we get one.

We won’t though.
We won't ask. If we did it would not be answered. So many things in this world don't make any sense so I suppose we may as well add nonsensical incidents like this one to the list.

Huge mistake by the referee which cost us one goal. They scored two goals though with no excuses for the second. Similar to Real Madrid in the semi last season where our game management and professionalism went awol. We need to keep our concentration but most of all keep our heads and use our brains. On Haaland, I think everyone is right we need to feed the ball through quicker to turn defences but also play our possession football, a plan A and plan B. We need to evolve new tactics which may also have the benefit of renergising some tired/bored players, challenge the players to win differently.

We’re going through a bad patch. Every team does every season. Sometimes you just have to get back to basics and try grind out a result until the football starts to click again. We did that in this game. We’d got ahead, and while not blasting United off the park like we did in the previous derby, we deserved the lead.

That was until the ref-VAR industrial complex decided that United should have a goal for nothing. That’s a tough blow for an out of form team to take. Yes, we’ve played better, the passing is off, the play seems slow… that happens and you need to play through it as best you can, but when you get cheated like today there’s not a lot more the team can do.

Results breed confidence which breeds performance and it becomes a virtuous circle. We were robbed of the result today.
I disagree with 1 thing you say ref-VAR

I want to see evidence of VAR at OT and Klanfield!

I'm convinced it does not operate the same as anywhere else, certainly not at our ground.

No big screen VAR checks, no replays of decisions, Linesman flagging opposition players when normally they let play go on to see what happens, if it results in a goal VAR chalks it off (Phil today)

Klanfield last week, basically admitting no camera angle, wtf. We've seen that so many times there.

Something is wrong and I belive the grubby Yanks are all over it. Deliberately delaying installation of proper VAR to make it easier to manipulate decisions.

That odious **** Penandez basically made the VAR decision today, he told Ref and Linesman, Rashford didn't touch the ball, so fuckin what he had control of it and it was passed to him!

United are genuinely shite. They played a Mourinho iteration and were fortunate the referee gave them decisions.

We were nowhere near our best but even so notwithstanding the referee we win that at a canter. It's a decision you will never see again. If it happened for us the inquisition would be already out there by the press.

I do wish Pep had more backbone though. Contrast the penalty Martial got in the reverse fixture to the ones not given or even checked today.

Like I say, United are genuinely crap. I can't wait for us to beat and slap them at the next opportunity.
All potential penalties are checked. See last week against Chelsea when nobody appealed. I accept the checking process at the swamp and Anfield may differ from other grounds.
