Yep a lot of players seem to be having a slump in form including our manager

Maybe a derby game is just the right game to be having right now

Ake has to be LB with walker or Lewis on the right

The issue is attacking left for me - not fodens best position

I'm stumped

If Pep tries his 'ridiculous tactics' plan and he fails then a lot of blues will be well pissed off with him, especially losing to our biggest rivals. He tried his conjuring bollox against chelsea in the CL final and fucked up badly. The last thing our players need now is their heads filling with tactics they're not used to, especially as their confidence will be low after last night. No square pegs in round holes Saturday and we have a decent chance of beating them.

Ake probably will start. I really rate him as a CB and I'm pleased for him that he's now getting more game time at City. But LB is in my opinion, still our biggest problem area.

Whilst Ake provides more defensive stability in that position than his teammates are offering currently, going forward is where the problems occur.

Given Ake isn't a naturally attack-minded left back it means that Grealish or Foden are the sole attacking threat from that side. We dominate possession in nearly every game and we've become extremely predictable on this side. It's easy for a team to organise themselves when they know our full back will give the ball to the wide players every time. Ake also doesn't have the same passing range as other fullbacks and is less likely to switch play, which makes the overloads we play for, less effective.

Unfortunately Cancelo's form has fallen off a cliff and Pep doesn't seem to trust him at Left Back for the time being. It's understandable, but it limits us going forward and given how devastating we were from that side last season, its frustrating to see what's happening currently as its not bringing the best out of anyone. I've no idea what the answer is, but hopefully Pep can get the balance right soon and get us back to our lethal best.

Mahrez----------Haaland----------Foden

For the first time in a long time they have a realistic chance before the game of beating us.
Our form and the way we are playing for the majority of the season just isn't good. Haaland goals have masked the down turn in performance levels.

Although I'd have alvarez in there for one of the wide players

One thing with City under Pep is we usually get a response after these types of performances. Fuck me we need one and some harsh words for some players need laying out in the dressing room. Can't say im looking forward to Saturday at all, but hopeful that result gives the players the kick they need.
Good point. It’s rare we stink the joint out twice in a row. Feeling confident again now.

Id play cancello we know his abilities and it aint defending. But form is temporary class is permanent.Cancello solves the lack of movement on the left .play ake left cb with stones or laporte and he can cover the space anthony will look for.
