Yes, you read it correctly. United stand to lose many points next season due to refereeing bias.

I became aware recently (I can't remember if it was via Bluemoon or Newsnow) of the excellent Arsenal website highlighting referee's poor performances. There is an interesting critique of Howard Webb's performance in the Newcastle v City game at the end of the season http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archives/21694 entitled 'Want an example of bias? Here it is.'

A bit more digging around the site led me to this: http://footballisfixed.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/peter-walton-is-red-bastard.html, which points out what we already knew about Peter Walton, but from a neutral team's perspective. It shows just how close we came to losing the league due to biased referees. It also highlights the fact that United are going to have a load of 'free' points taken from them now that Walton is gone.

Roll on the day when Webb and Foy are no longer able to influence games in United's favour, and we will truly be moving towards a level playing field in terms of refereeing decisions.

It cannot be ignored, forget talk of bias, it is so beyond that.

Referees, linesman, whichever match officials are on duty in Yernited games should hang there heads in shame, they have collected so many fucked up decisions over the years that it is beyond comprehension that there has been no investigation, enquiry, or simple review, fuck them, they are beyond comtempt....

My unbelievably bitter rag brother-in-law freely admitted that bad referring decisions gave United close to 18 points last year.

And we only counted from Spurs onwards.

I tend to think that on the end of the season they maybe lost the title because of decisions they had before.

I'm talking about Ashley Young's divings against QPR and Aston Villa.

Big media pressure led Taggart to leave him on the bench in both Everton and derby matches and they missed him a lot, he was one of their best players in games before these matches.

for years, talk of bias has been laughed off, "were man u we cheat when we want" . i believe the red card for VK was so blatantly bent, it brought focus onto ref's performance generally in utd games. You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to see bias, rooney not getting a card for persistent foul and abusive language in every single game, for violent tackles going unpunished is there for all to see, Video editors for broadcasters have played their part in the bias, Sky being the most obviously bent, showing fouls by city players as often as possible, scholes's vicious assaults barely on screen, and then removed on the high-lights. It has been happening for years, and frankly i could never see it changing, so entrenched was it, so easily dismissed as sour grapes.
Next season will be the test, will it be back to samo samo or has the spell been removed.

and mason who claims to support bolton but is blatantly pro-rag and has had some shockers refereeing our games.

Fact number one - The Premier League has a product it needs to market.
Fact number two - The rags have an enormous Asian and far eastern fan base
Fact number three - The Premier League need the rags to be competing for the title so it's easier to market their product

Conclusion - The PL will do everything possible to keep the rags competitive, hence dubious refereeing decisions
