United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Jack was great in midfield v Forest. Since then, he has been benched twice and put back on the wing in the other. He must have wondered why. Another example of poor team selection and played, those fit, in the wrong positions. Despite our injuries, we've had enough players to have coped better.

He doesnt look fit, its like he’s carrying a knock.

Funny when pep came in the consensus was Aguero didn’t fit pep’s system and how he must change his game - aguero did and became a better all round player for it

Haaland today was easily marked and dominated by a shite Harry Maguire - rarely saw him close down, work or stretch the United centre halves today - same with Onanas kicking which was woeful - having a full speed freak of nature bearing down on him would have shat him up

I’m not laying the blame at Haalands door -
We have much bigger problems, it can also be tactical to not have Haaland harry and chase however I thought he was flat footed and easily marked today
Could be that he is tired

Anyone who's watched us for the past 8 years should know that Guardiola isn't the problem.

If we could give him a lifetime contract we should.

Unfortunately we have a raft of players who have either aged beyond their prime or can't stay fit for longer than a couple of games.

The recruitment has also been poor the last two seasons and it's caught up with us. Palmer out with Nunes / Doku in will be one of the worst summers we'll ever have.

Completely agree. I'm sorry and people might not agree, but Doku is absolutely terrible. He's a one trick pony with no end product. And the less said about Nunes the better.

But you have explained why a club needs to recruit to stay on top, we didn't do that.

As a minimum, a top side should be integrating at least 1 new player every year, if they don't work out fuck em off.
And let go those who are no longer good enough.

We have let our team get old together.

If you had a classic car, it would be managed continually and something replaced every year, it wouldn't be flogged into the ground until it's worthless.

Our players have just been too good, and too nice to get rid off I suppose.
Yes, this is the conundrum. This team and the lads who went last season have given us the best footballing years we will ever have. But that level of success is over. The manager is the greatest we will probably ever have but he is struggling now.
Yes, the recruitment has been poor and too many players are way past their best.
But it’s not only that, it’s the level of homegrown talent that has been sold or allowed to leave that is mind boggling. It’s not just Cole Palmer, for example next week we will be up against Morgan Roger’s who is doing great and there are many others.
I think this has been Peps blind spot and still is - we’ve got no legs in the team, well the young lads have energy. Just look at the rags, they’ve brought Diallo and Mainoo in.
All great managers have a sell by date and reluctantly I think Pep is there now. If we look at it in the clear light of day we are performing dreadfully and the time for him to go should have been the end of the season or even last season. But he’s signed a new contract! Hope I’m proved wrong but history says I’m probably right

I have had a thought about our problems.

Suppose just for a second no one is to blame!! I know right -:)

We have looked rather stale now for a while on the pitch. Predictable and sometimes a hard watch. What was once a formidable machine has ground to a halt.

Pep wants to continue using his system that has brought unparalleled success with this group of players. High press, high line, patient control the game, pass pass pass until you find an opening for a chance. Defend high and intercept the ball quickly to put the opponent under pressure.

Some of the players can’t do this anymore. The problems are well documented.

The only solution is to play counter attack football. Soak up pressure and use the wingers and Haaland to break on teams. Sit back when we don’t have the ball.

The team is stuck in no man’s land as a result. The only solution is the second option until we get to the summer for a reset. Pep can’t see it due to his blind side and philosophy and some of the senior players can’t admit it.

In summary,

Pep has his way of playing. Struggling to see past it which requires a complete change of thinking. Someone strong at the club needs to have an honest conversation which so far hasn’t happened.

Some of the older players can’t do what is asked anymore and either won’t admit it or can’t and some of the new players are not good enough to take over. As a result, we see a disjointed team all over the pitch.

All of them trying their best btw.

Until these honest discussions take place nothing will change. Time we see leadership off the pitch and time someone has the balls to point out what needs to be done and not worry about hurting peoples feelings. Khaldoon should be doing this.

Anyway, that’s what I have woke up thinking about now that iv digested the performances. You can see the players who believe in pep’s approach and can still carry it out. You can also see the players who can’t carry it out and you can also see the players who are not good enough to carry it out. Come on pep, set them up differently and remove some of the problems.

Spot on. The recruitment/sales post treble have been sub-par. Now we’re paying the price
I suspect even if nobody says it that the 115 charges fiasco has affected our transfer activity in a negative way and we won’t move on until it has finally been put to bed. This has been coming for several seasons and the quality of our football has been on the downward spiral even winning the league last year was not a pretty watch

Morning blues how we feeling?

We all ready for the part time red wankers to act like they're the biggest fans in the world?

They like football again don't they, this after cry arsing that they hate football because they're shite.

Just remember these bellends will never see 4 in a row, they'll never experience the years they've had under taggart.

Take our medicine, chest out and up the fuckin blues.
And they only won due to our stupid error!!!

It seems like we are too scared to attack, the mentality is every time we lose the ball, the opposition scores. Teams are sitting waiting for 70 mins knowing these players will be knackered by then. It's the same every game. I thought we defending well, but the RAGs were shit.

I so hope we have players ready to sign from the 1st Jan and Txiki, Soriano & Khaldoon are working overtime to get the refresh done.

Dreading Villa on Saturday, although I'll be watching it in sunny Dubai.
