United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

The annoyance for me with the ref was that their keeper was allowed to take all the time they wanted, yet as soon as we we were ahead he was whistling to donarumma to take his kicks quickly and went over to have a word with him.
Same thing used to happen to Ederson all the time, opposition keeper is allowed to waste time for 75mins but once we are in front eddie would get a yellow card issued for time wasting. Other than that he seemed to let the game flow well and waved away most of the free kick claims, probably fell for a couple of theirs near the corner of our box but it wasn't a bad performance.
What I did notice him doing late 1st half on a corner to them was warning Kush for wrestling with Deligt , some refs coudve awarded a pen with this new rule

I dont disagree with you in that we needed to change something, the point i was making is that when we did change something which everyone has been clamoring for people still arent happy
I get what you are saying and agree some complain no matter what. I'm just saying not everyone. : )

I don't claim City to be a great side any more but we are a side in transition with some very good players whilst Man Utd side under Amorim have 31 points from 31 games. Therefore pre-match predictions of a Man Utd win from a small number of very active 'City' users was odd behaviour.
Pep's overall record v United in the PL is now
P19 W10 L6 D3

However there's also been a couple of HOW THE FUCK DID WE LOSE THAT? moments so whilst I've always been relatively confident I can understand why some people expect the worst

To be fair it's not necessarily the same posters. I for one have been consistent that we needed to change our approach. Kudos to Pep because I would bet it went against the grain for him to play that way but he let go and we responded. No buts from me. Watching us be solid in defense while Haaland, Foden , and Doku ran roughshod on them was delightful. Arsenal looked shit against this same ManUre squad just a few weeks back. I can't wait for Napoli and Arsenal!
I was also pleased to see us defending deeply when we were 2-0 up. Perhaps we can't do that against a great team like PSG. But the reality is that United are incapable of breaking down any team and yesterday we defended well. They are so tecnnically poor that the only way they can score is from a counter attack or a lucky set piece. Last season we kept on attacking at the end of the match and gifted them two late goals. We are finally learning from our mistakes. The truth is we need to play possession-based football against some teams, especially in Europe, but we need pace and power in other games. Pep will solve this and Donnaruma (and Marmoush) are early pieces in the jigsaw.

I can't honestly remember the last time they actually outplayed us. When we win we win big. They seem to scrape wins with smash and grab raids.

We had exactly the same conversation prior to the game, especially as I was still scarred from the stupid penalty conceded last year.

They definitely outplayed us during the 2-1 at the Etihad in 19-20 when they could easily have been leading 3-0 after 20 minutes, (but even that included the obligatory penalty)

Maybe also the COVID 2-0 when Martial scored from a first minute penalty

In contrast we battered them at the 6-3 (when they scored a late penalty) and the 3-1 (when Lukaku scored a penalty)

They even scored a penalty when we beat them in the FA Cup Final so it's not even sour grapes.

It's just the law!

Fuck em!
