I'll take any derby win. Nowhere near our best and still should have had 6.
We defended well today and I'm wondering if we set up to do that as opposed to dominating the ball.
I was frustrated by the amount of times we gave it away unnecessarily in our defensive 3rd and better teams will punish us for doing that.
 
Haaland was phenomenal today. Played free.

Doku looked excellent. Foden goal came from Doku playing in a central role.

Hopefully Pep is finally giving players freedom to find space.

We’re beginning to play a different game these days, forsaking possession to win the ball back and create quick counters.

This suits all of our current crop of attackers and midfielders far more that how we’re used to seeing city.

We’ll only get better at it!
 
Weird watching us play a completely different style. There's something there, not sure what it is. Foden staying fit and Rodri getting better is key I think.

United, truly, are shocking. So far off it. No goals, uncomfortable defending, no midfield, an enforcer who plays in gloves in 17 degrees, a goalkeeper you wouldn't trust to hold a baby.
 
Im in the camp of we have still some issues. But decent performance. They were like Wimbledon with their long balls. I think Doku/Foden have to play. Probably the best we have currently. Rodri looks like he needs a few months (understandably).

Donnarumma save was critical, that goes in and it might have got nervy. Ederson doesnt save that. Also though he was decent on crosses and with his feet!

And Haaland was great at both ends (the sitter apart).
 
Overall the performance had many many mistakes but hopefully that'll smooth out soon and meanwhile we still score goals.

What I loved about Erl today was the way he got about the park and helped out..

question is can we find the balance around them? still not convinced about Doku, Savinho, Gonzales, Reijnders, Bobb. A lot of is just youthful promise.

Silva done nothing today to convince he should be in the team in that position, he had lost that dart of speed in the first 5 yards and now just gets bossed off the ball immediately. remember when he used to smash it in long range out of nothing? no chance of that now

Marmoush looks good enough to be a long term city player, and no judgement yet possible on Cherki.

Khusanov coming along nicely and I hope we can find a consistent back 3/4 of Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol and Ati Nouri this season.

that said everything went for us today, Haaland with clutch finishes that he wont always put away. United put pressure on at times and we still looked quite exposed through wide midfield against a team who will probably finish bottom half. they wasted loafs of opportunities with the ball at their feet in the box and napoli and arsenal will beat us if we allow that space.

dont like the 4-2-4 again today generally - the wingers dont work hard enough to cover the full backs.

How about a full season for these players first? You guys keep overreacting over one game. This time someone is good and next game y‘all be saying the same players are trash. Also we better understand and accept the fact that there aren’t that many world class players out there.
It’s not the 00‘s to the mid 10‘s
 
My thoughts:

Haaland and Doku the difference.

A much more solid set up. We were sloppy but limited them to hard chances, their lack of ability showed. A better team would of made us pay but still better than recent weeks with a decent right back.

Donnarumma class. His saves will make a difference.

Good to see foden back. But midfield was not great. Hopefully they are just rusty.

Amorin is a very poor manager. They don't look comfortable in their positions.
