United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Amorim says a lot but basically says fuck all.

They reminded me of a lower level team bringing the enthusiasm but not the quality. As well as the manager not having a clue about tactics.

You could clearly see where we changed tactics and allow Doku to roam, and to ensure we covered the spaces, especially at LB with O’Reilly converting from inverted to occupying that position.

Just think, United used to take the best players from the biggest league challengers. They now pay big money for those around them in the league table, who are usually at the wrong end.

Donnarumma - Excellent debut. Looked secure and made 1 world class save. Just his presence alone is helpful. Clearly needs practice with his kicking.

Khusanov - If we can just stop him ploughing his man every now and then, we have solved our RB/RCB issue. Potential out of his arse.

O’Reilly - Some nice touches. Looks better going forward than backwards. He was often double teamed, but handled it well. More mature than his years and a lovely nutmeg to start the first Haaland goal.

Dias - Solid defensive Captain’s performance.

Gvardiol - Solid. Nothing bad, which is exactly what you want from your CBs! Helped Nico out of a jam or two.

Rodri - Wasteful, esp early on, and got caught too often. However, he’s only just on his way back and crucial to the structure of the team.

Reijnders - You can see he has it, but was a step off the pace for much of the game. Finally found himself late on and could have finished an improving performance with a great goal on the break. Excellent engine.

Foden - Brilliant return performance. That’s the kind of performance that made him POTY. Took his goal very, very well, too.

Doku - Strong performance, 2 assists, looks like he’s finding his groove.

Bernardo - Poorest performance in quite some time, and I love the guy. Dorgu pocketed him, and he knew it. Showed his age against strong, pacy opponents. Was surprised he wasn’t replaced at least 15 mins earlier as he wasn’t getting past Dorgu in 10 games.

Haaland - Most complete performance I’ve seen from him in a City shirt. His leadership is really starting to come through. His goals were sublime “Haaland” goals and I’m gutted he didn’t get his hat-trick, albeit not as gutted as he will be. Absolutely 9.9/10 performance, with the width of the post stealing the perfect score. #1 in Golden Boot race already, and it just shows you what he can be for the team if we feed him the balls he is craving all game.
Agree. We played up the field much faster and it gave Haaland and Doku the space. We have the players to play fast breaks, hopefully we do more of it now.

3 or 4 times Doku was away in the first half but all of our mids were guilty of poor through balls. Hopefully they find better form.

Bernado was not great on the attack but he gets picked for his intensity off the ball. If the rest of them put in the same shift we wouldn't need him.

That performance today is the blueprint to get the best out of haaland.
Give up a bit more possession and control to hit teams on the break.
Foden played really well and donnaruma played exactly what we bought him for

Good win but...
Should have scored a few more. Also Reijnders needs to be quicker in the ball - I'll be kind and say he hasn't fully adjusted to the pace of the Prem.
Finally, a big call out to Donnarumma, who made a great save at 2-0. He also totally dominated his box at corners and for crosses.
Although Diaz and Khusanov were very good, and If I must be critical elsewhere, Khusanov has to be much more careful in the box being close to attackers. If the ref hadn't declared open season on defensive fouls in that game, he could have given a pen away. The Utd player was waiting for contact and went down far too easily - on another day, that would be a pen. That said, the bear hugs on Haaland throughout that game were rediculous.
Otherwise ok?

Spot on mate

Been saying that about Khusanov since we signed him while all the doomsday brigade kept insisting we still need another RB. He'll be an immense player for us. Go and watch his back history...
Played well but he has to stop diving in recklessly- did it twice at least today and cost us at Brighton

Cracking result. Get in!

Massive shout out to Donnarumma, if that shot goes in it could of changed the game. He will be a massive signing and will prove the doubters wrong.

I'm not gonna build my hopes up too much cos they are seriously shit.

I LOVE KUSANOV!!!!

R.I.P Ricky <3

C'mon you Blues!!!!!

Not long back, nice to tribute to Ricky RIP before the game.
Needed a win we got it. The sun even shone in the second half.
