United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Just looking at the bigger picture.

We spent most of that 2nd half camped in our box unable to get out aimlessly punting the ball upfield. At home. To an absolutely shite United side.

The drop off from where we were 3 years ago is staggering.
But while doing that, if that’s what we were doing, we scored twice and should have scored two more. Which is an alternative bigger picture.

Should have been at least 5 or 6 , main thing for me was how much confidence Donnur gives the back 4 , so many improved performances specially Doku , Foden Kush and Nico
I know its one game, and to be fair we were under a bit of pressure early in both halfs. But for the first time in a long time i never felt we were gonna concede from the oppositions first shot....

Just watching MOTD, and I thought this at the time too, I’m sure the ref missed a back pass when Haaland challenged their keeper unless there’s something in the rules I don’t know about?
I don't think he "missed" it, but a back pass is always waved away despite what the rules say. Refs seem scared of giving them at the best of times, so the Alty Rag is never giving one of those in City's favour in the derby.

Can anyone explain via the LotG why Taylor did not award us a free kick for a blatant handball five or ten yards outside the Rag penalty area. The ball bounced up quickly but it hit the palm of the defender's hand and bounced down rather kindly when refs award some of the most dubious penalties each week when a ball grazes an upper arm with the defender trying to get his arm out of the way. My own explanation is that Taylor didn't want to give us a rather interesting free with Erling on top heading form!
That was Maguire, though - I think they make allowances for him, ever since that stalagmite grew up through his foot before he had a chance to move...

Ones as clear cut as that, I’ve always seen given.

What was good to see is our back 4 defending and not pressing.on the halfway line , arselona will be the test next week

Was a nailed on back pass, thought at the time he must have thought Haaland players it. Which he didn’t

Gigi is going to be a legend I think. I was just watching him some parts of the game and I could see his leadership marshalling the defence, hi fiving each of them at the start of the half. Loves the fans already too!
it reminded me of when dias first arrived.
pure determination.
proper leadership qualities.
"right, i'm here now. let's fucking do this!"

Absolutely love it, wasn't looking forward to the match after the awful news this Morning but we did it and as we all know, Manchester is blue!

Special thanks to the bloke on our row who spent a large amount of the match shouting at Scruffy Jim "the tax dodger" fuck me it gave us a laugh. Again hope Berrada went home wondering what the fuck he's done jumping ship to that sinking ship.
