United (H) Post Match Thread

Twat next door was out washing his car earlier wearing his rag top. Seen him wear it once in the last 8 years.
I'm surrounded by rags and dippers where I live. I'm the quietest one when it comes to football despite our success these past years. The other ****s are gobby as fuck when we have an upset and then seem to crawl under their rock when we are beating them. I'm not looking forward to meeting one of them in the next few days and that is despite the fact that we will be champions in a week or two, unless we go through on Tuesday that is.

Yes and I have in several posts this morning.
What if he had played the strongest team (whatever that might be) and we still capitulated, Pep would still be getting pelters.

Your missing the point. It’s about the balance of probabilities. We did not play our strongest team that is a fact. Had we played our strongest team any still lost, there would be no argument. We would have lost and I would have had no complaints.

I love Pep, but that does not make him immune from criticism from me if he warrants it.

Outside of neymar and Messi (who are no go's) who do you think would be an upgrade on Sergio

Aguero will be gone in 2 years and we aren't winning the Champions League with our current set of players unless the forwards improve in front of goal in high leverage moments. I do think Sane and Jesus can become what we need but just calling it as it is, we don't have the consistency up top to beat the elite sides and unfortunately that includes Aguero at this present time. Aguero gives me the most faith to step up in big moments but he doesn't always mesh well with the way Pep desires so it's a catch 22. The one player I'd want in front of goal at this present time in a big moment is De Bruyne. And regarding a player to replace Aguero, I haven't seen someone outside of Neymar and Messi like you stated who could mesh well and be replied upon in front of goal. Kane would be reliable in front of goal if given the chance though but not sure if he'd fit in overall. There's a few other potential outsiders but not seen enough in big moments to say for certain. Dybala, Mbappe and Griezmann.

Good post.
Can't help but feel we need Jesus to seriously develop into a lethal finisher as a top striker will cost us £150m these days

Once in a lifetime opportunity ???? NO ITS NOT! With Pep in charge we more than likely will get another chance against them at Home or at OT in the next few years.

I will never forgive Pep?. Tell you what, go cry in the corner! Stop being a spoilt sounding littleboy. Jesus I'm sick and tired of the likes of you moaning and others on here. If we do go through in the CL you don't deserve to see us win that game. Prefer the old days with fans supporting the team, than a couple of defeats and this arrogant attitude that we should win every game.
It's not a case of the old days and fans accepting dross. Then the expe stations were low do the pain of defeat wasn't as intense. Now we have arguably the greatest manager in world football, access to elite players, with that comes expectation not out of being a self entitled twat but due to human nature. It's right that our manager is scrutinised as long as it is in a constructive way. Seems some on here are utterly blind and can't put any blame on Pep. He takes credit for the massive positives this season, by default he has to be accountable when predictable mess ups happen and happen more than once. Fans shouldn't e scared to question Pep out of gear of being lambasted on here. Finally, if you think fans didn't moan in the 80s/90s you're dreaming mate....

Good post.

Yep, which could be a reason for Pep to stay much longer as he develops these young lads into elite players and dominates Europe with them ( best case scenario of course ) or we have to splash a lot of cash to replace Aguero.

Concentration levels seem to be killing us in big games Liverpool lge 3 goals in 10 mins Liverpool champs lge 3 goals in 19 mins then yesterday 3 goals in 20 mins when cruising also many other during the season but mainly when we are 3 or 4 up and right at the end of games. It's definitely 1 area we need to improve on next season to win the champs lge and defend the title.

come off it. thats a complete overreaction. relegation fodder ???? pretty much all season we've had one of the best defenses in the league. statistically its true, but apparently that counts for nothing.

Well if you read my post again it does say that is mainly due to teams being scared to attack us. Even Chelsea were terrified to do so in both games. That of course is part of the game, defending from the front I think they call it. On the few occasions we have been put under pressure at the back though we have wobbled alarmingly. The last two games whatever back four we have put out has been shocking. Not tracking runners, marking, tackling, you name it we haven't done it.

The team he put out should not have lost - nothing to do with not having either Kev or Kun on the field at kick off.

Exactly.

They and their team were dead & buried, their players had bottled it & the crowd was getting right at them.

They came out 2nd half, geed up by Mourinho, ready to have one last go & were met by a half empty, half hearted ground & a City team who also thought it was easy.

You know you are spot on. I could see Otamendi and Kompany bothered by the atmosphere when having simple defensive duties to contend with. Must have been going through their minds right at that time.

All the players yesterday missed the chance to have become the biggest legends in City's history. So I would like to know what the hell did Pep tell those players at half time. That their was such a drop in the performance between the 1st and the 2nd half.

isn't that the point though. its only really been the last two games we've been crap at the back. pretty much all season we've been great at the back. considering the way we play swell, mistakes are going to happen. you put any defence under pressure they will make mistakes. liverpool, united, chelsea, spurs defenses have all made mistakes when under pressure. if we attack and dominate teams it doesnt matter as much.

obviously we need to improve on our last 2 performances at the back and tbh id be tempted to brign back laporte and stones and give them an actual run in the team

that annoys me more then anything. its was a once in a lifetime chance. i might never see it again.

The one positive from this week is that I do think it will help us hugely next season, in terms of complacency hopefully not kicking in as much as it has for the last few title winners. Expectations this year have gone through the roof, but we still have a relatively immature squad in places who haven't been in these situations before. I really do think we will be a lot better next year than we have been now, and given we can still break the goals and points record, that's got to be frightening to our rivals.

Yes it's gutting how the last two games have gone, but I do think they'll have longer term benefits.

Completely disagree mate. If Kun, KDB & Walker had started that game we would now be Champions and on a major high - which is what we needed after Liverpool.
We are now on a serious low and two of the toughest games of the season coming up next.
Pep fucked up on Wednesday and again yesterday. Hey, he's human but on occasions he tries to be just a bit to clever for his own good and it has cost us dearly.

They were as bad a side as we have played in the first half. What they do have though is a set of bollocks. They rarely give in and that’s twice they have come from 2-0 down to win in the last month. They also came from behind to beat Chelsea. They don’t lack fight that’s for sure. It’s why they are where they are in the league. Talent wise they are easily the 5th or 6th best side so they are punching above their weight results wise.

Our players need to find some of their own bollocks this week after these two shambolic performances/results. Anything less than a win Tuesday and Saturday won’t be good enough. They owe the fans the chance to see them win the league at home after that and beating Spurs is the key to that.

I hope they are hurting as much as the fans are today and it spurs them on.

Mourinho changed their game plan at half time and we did not react until it was too late. The throwing on of subs at 3-2 was just desperation to try and save the game. Never understand why you don’t start with your strongest side and then bring players off. Gutted but it’s typical city and let’s get the league won. Let’s get behind the lads on Tuesday whatever happens.

I think peop having a go at each other on this thread isn’t required at all. I’m a city fan....city form a big part of my life....today do I feel dejected, do I feel let down by the result, do I feel that peps decision to play a different side was wrong....yes 100%. I feel very low today but then I think about us scraping a draw at Chesterfield and then to think where we are now to feel sad about not winning the premier league again...quite a feeling really

Come in ladies m gents we’re about to be champions again just not this weekend
