I use Understat.com for xG stats and they had United at 0.97. That site gives penalties a 0.76 xG score, because only 76% of penalties are converted. Martial had an xG of 0.81 from 3 shots, so his other 2 shots only amounted to about a 5% chance of scoring. Matic, Smalling, and Mata had the other 3 shots, but none of those was better than a 6% chance - basically, the few shots they did have were from bad positions with very little chance of scoring, and without the gift of the penalty, they never looked like coming close to getting a goal.Having just watched the highlights again... and again... and again
The dominance becomes more and more obvious. We have finished above them every year for the past 5 years and cant see them changing that for a long long time.
Tiny thing, but on motd it had united with expected goals of 1.06 when they had 1 shot on target. How does that work?
