United (massive mini) Parade

"Fathers held young sons on their shoulders as supporters clamoured five-deep along Deansgate to catch a glimpse of the players."

"We had more out than they did, and this in the pissing rain, two days after losing a cup final!"

"Rubbish, those saying that either saw it at 9am when no-one was there or when the bus was in between Deansgate and Old Trafford when it was only people running alongside the bus. Was packed for most of the route. Considerably more than city's parade, and quite convincingly too."

"I think the turnout was very good given the disappointment on Saturday and the weather."

Wow...
I suppose 5,000 IS a lot. There are only 19,000 of them in Manchester after all.

I was on the phone to my mate who couldn't get near OT because of the amounts of fans. No-one who lined the early parts of the route could. Comfortably more than city's parade.

GMP hope for parade success
Story updated 29/5/11

Greater Manchester Police is urging United fans to make the club's championship parade on Monday 30 May a memorable occasion.

Thousands of fans are expected to line the streets from Manchester city centre to Stretford to celebrate the Reds' record-breaking 19th title and police officers are hoping fans enjoy themselves in a responsible manner as the team show off the trophy on an open top bus.

Assistant Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: "This is a time for Manchester United fans to celebrate their win and I would like to congratulate them on their club's success.

"I would remind supporters to take note of the on-street alcohol ban restricting drinking alcohol in public places. The parade will be attended by a lot of families and I would urge all those attending to enjoy the unique atmosphere but behave in a responsible way.

"We did all this just a week ago with Manchester City and it was a fantastic success - I hope the United fans do their club just as proud."

well they didnt so fuck off.
