The Glazers have had offers for the club at 1.5billion and turned them down.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/06/glazers-reject-secret-offer-manchester-united" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010 ... ter-united</a>

IMO, they will sell up if this IPO goes tits up, and it's going tits up.

If the club is valued at 600 million, and the glazers owe 400 million, then someone could buy them for 1billion now, when the Glazers thought it was worth 2.2billion. They will still make their money, just well short of what they wanted.

Also, with the reduced valuation, it makes the club more affordable to consortiums from the Middle East or Asia.

Glazers wont let the golden goose go that easily...their yearly golden eggs have served them well..

They will have no choice if the banks step in. It seems this IPO was abit forced already. Why float during a period of market instability, and in the US of all places? Maybe they are under pressure from the banks already. Well things just got worse.
I wouldn't read too much into "instability", the US markets are enjoying a tremendous year. Look:

S&P500 up 11.6%
Dow Jones up 7.8%
NASDAQ up 16%

Every major market in the world is well up two thirds through the year (bad news for rammy "ginancial armagedon" blue). It's a good time to launch an IPO.

The reason for the US is so that they could offer poor share classes that wouldn't be legal in the UK and they failed to garner enough idiots when they tried in the Far East.

SWP how long can these underwriters prop up these shares? :-)

Best guess is a couple of weeks mate but we don't know why the agreement is. The Glazers may have put agreements in place where the cede control or partial control until the liability is reduced but we all have no idea tbh.

Seems GM have fucked up along with anyone else quoting 600m fans

Utd losing 1-0 at Aberdeen approaching ht.

Very leisurely game, but Utd absolutely awful. I think they are both going to play veteran players later.

pretty strong team for Utd. De Gea, Rio, Giggs, Scholes, bebe, macheda, Powell, Keane

What liability?

I don't know why people are following the share price now. They have their £150 m and share price wont change what cash utd receive. Those investors who have bought shares committed to buy at $14
