Here's how I see it re Mata/Rooney... chelsea have agreed to sell them Mata so that they get Rooney in the summer..
Rooney starts all this " I want £300 grand a week" bollocks to set the ball rolling for an excuse to leave come summer but gets to play til then. In the summer United say " we will not allow ourselves to be held to ransom" they sell Rooney to Chelsea..

Rooney can then say he wanted a pay rise but left cos he didnt get one..
united will not get lambasted by their fans as they are the innocent party..

plausable, but i think at the moment united would bend over backwards to keep the fans happy and retain the playing staff at all costs, one thing is whatever is going on its going to cost millions with no guarantees, at the end of the day you can sign XY and Z it dosnt follow they can gel and play together this could backfire in a big way and be very costly esp when there is a crackpot at the helm
