Leighton Baines: Everton defender set to sign long-term deal
By Phil McNulty
Chief football writer Leighton Baines is close to agreeing a new long-term deal to stay at Everton.

Former Toffees manager David Moyes failed in his efforts to take the 29-year-old England left-back with him to Manchester United last summer.

Now Everton are increasingly confident they will shortly be able to confirm Baines, who signed for £6m from Wigan in August 2007, has committed the rest of his top-flight career to the club.

It is thought the deal could be worth £75,000 per week to Baines.

Everton are currently on a break in Tenerife and Baines could sign his new contract when they return.
"Well, we tried to sign him, but Everton blew us out of the water, we couldn't match the opportunity to challenge for a champions league place" - David Moyes

Won't hold my breath for Baines snubs United headlines

Everton should also put a cheeky bid in for Januzaj saying Utd should sell to a team competing for a CL place as its for the good of the player

Desperate for a United win, although I think they are way short of that.

A draw would be a fantastic result for us.

For me, we can break the back of Chelsea in these next couple of weeks if United upset the odds and we also do our job.

We could be four points clear of them going into Sunday.

If we can somehow win at Spurs and then beat Chelsea, that gap could be six or seven points very quickly.

Judging by Mourinho's comments, it's clear he knows this is the season right now.

C'mon United you dirty red bastards.

^^^^ This.

Less likely they will get Baines now, yet the propaganda coming from Stretford still insists that they will sign Reus, Pogba, Vidal, etc. and wee Denis tells us that the plans are frightening.

See they've been given hope for Ravel returning as well.

As they said on The Fast Show..."BRILLIAAANT"

Von Rapist wants to win the Champions League, transfer request on the way then.
